  1. Ricoh GRIII while much smaller and cheaper has internal sensor cleaning mechanism. It’s quite a shame Leica did not implement that after 3 iterations of the Q!
  2. I sold my Q type 116 (which was not weather sealed) because I had to send it 3 times to Germany for sensor cleaning. Almost every six months. Each time was 6 weeks delay. The 4th time they wanted to charge me 350€ because it was out of warranty. I sold it to get out of this nightmare. What is happening with your Q3 scares me. For sure I wouldn’t another Leica dust gate in my life.
  3. This one is beautiful ! I’d even make is a 16/9 and crop the sky at the top to keep only the dramatic clouds and the lake. well done!
  4. @Miltz : I mailed them about the crop mode back in 2018 when I got the Q and I was not the only one. I bet they received hundreds of mails about this and never changed it. Most likely will never happen. The idea was not to replace white frames by crop live view, just to give the choice from menu settings. That’s really not hard to do and will not annoy anyone. Same for back button focus BTW.
  5. This is exactly what I find very annoying. They bring to the table a modern camera with half retro ergonomics. Why? It doesn’t make any sense. I’m not buying the Q3 to have a M experience. Those who enjoy the old school M shooting can buy the M, with all its limits that are known and loved for years. When the Q3 brings 8K video to the table (who needs that really?), eye detect AF, tilt screen and many modern features, why restricting users to follow the Leica old school way? I’m not asking for insane level of menu options, it is nice that the camera remains simple to operate, but it wouldn’t be that silly to implement a dozain of popular features that are lacking and are very easy to add.
  6. Software in Leica cameras is well beyond hardware in terms of quality. Not saying that their developers are bad, but it looks like a ship with no captain to me. Lack of some critical functions, some others almost useless, erratic logic in some behaviors. The list is long. The worst thing to me is that even though customers are asking for improvements since the first Q, they just ignore them and keep doing what they want, even when that make no sense. Two examples that come in my mind: - no back button focus - crop modes with white frames only when they could just magnify into the EVF for better composition These are truly amazing cameras only crippled by the software.
  7. I agree 100% on this. I never added anything to my Q except a cloth strap. To me all those expensive accessories just make the Q ugly and don’t help on anything. I’d only find a thumb rest useful if I’d carry the Q in hand all time when walking on the streets, but I don’t because it’s much more comfortable to me having it hanging over my shoulder.
  8. These are the things that make me wonder about the so marketed high level of manual crafting and inspection for releasing the perfect product. How come this pass through quality control?
  9. Does the forum degrade images quality when uploaded? All of the images posted here don’t look very sharp to me and really don’t sell the amazing sharpness of Q3 lens.
  10. Your point make no sense. First you should realise that Leica is a small company that just can not build as fast as demand goes. Second, if Leica said no orders until the camera is in stock do you think that will help you get it faster? You should never have paid upfront, because here you gave your money to B&H that makes profit from it. That is your mistake and you should blame nobody but yourself.
  11. It is not Leica that ask for full payment, it’s B&H. I have placed an order in my local shop here in France, I’m on waiting list and I paid nothing, zero.
  12. You were lucky enough that Q2 price raised a lot over time, that’s why you can resell your camera with profit. It doesn’t happen so often in the industry. If Q3 follows the same way, those who purchased it new this year can expect a quite good resell value when Q4 is out.
