Has anyone sold their CL with 18-56 Elmarit and bought a Q2 ? If so was it a good move

I'm waiting for the Q7 - not due out till after Leica's sale to Elon Musk

In 1981 a friend of my wife's husband passed away. He had been a keen photographer and his widow asked me what his Leica III was worth as she wished to sell it. I offered to take it to three Leica dealers and she could decide which should buy it. The camera was absolutely mint with a pristine 50mm Summar. He had bought it in 1936 and it was still in its original tissue paper and red box, all immaculate. The best price was offered by Hove Camera, £85, so she decided to sell it to them. I had never had a Leica so I said I would match the Hove price if she would sell it to me. So I acquired the camera. A week later she telephoned to ask whether I could collect the remaining things to do with the camera. She said she didn't want any further payment. Whereupon she handed me a a mint 90mm Elmar, a mint 135 Hektor, a mint 35mm Elmar, a Ficus hood, a Vidom, a Valoy enlarger with Varom enlarger lens similarly all mint. Also every copy of Leica News since the first issue in 1935 all in Leica binders. and finally a copy of My Leica and I. I have sold the Valoy enlarger but have retained all the rest.Sadly in a burglary the red box for the Leica III was stolen. I have not been able to trace it so if anyone has acquired a Leica III red box with the the camera number 203267 on the underside I should be happy to buy it.

I always find with my CL that I feel compelled to download the images as soon as i get home. But with my film Leicas i am relaxed. I can leave the images in the camera until all 36 have been exposed and then enjoy seeing the results There is no pressure, no rush, and I avoid urgent pictures. Much more satisfying and relaxing. Digital is urgency, film is restful. I have returned to film for my 'real' photos and am happy with the results. A bit more expensive but a real pleasure.

I found my 40mm Summicron worked fine on my CL but no better than the 18-56 I normally use. Where I have been surprised is in the quality of my pre-war lenses particularly the 50mm Summar and the 90mm Elmar. With contrast focussing I have been very pleased with the images.

CL with M adaptor and M39 screw adaptor with 1936 90mm Elmarnd M39 adaptor = Lens is a 1936 90mm Elmar

I would not replace my CL with a CL2 unless it had an eyecup for the EVF.

I have had to change my computer as the old one has finally given up. I have Adobe Lightroom on my old computer , acquired when I bought my Leica new. Can anyone please kindly tell me how I can install it on my new computer. I ban access the old hard drive.

I love the term 'old LTM' - is there a new one somewhere? My LTMs are 1929 1934, and 1936. I like using them all but you have to make a conscious effort - no snapping, but it is enjoyable.

I heard that one of the reasons for Leica dropping nickel was that they were learning that some people are allergic to the metal. Not so with chrome.

I've just tried a Zeiss Planar with the M mount adapter. A nice combination for portraits and with the ELPRO 3 screwed into the Planar an excellent close-up lens. So my CL now handles all my screwmount, M, and Zeiss lenses. Economical and very convenient.

Has anyone tried a Zeiss 50mm Contax Planar on the CL and found an acceptable profile ? I have one spare and would like to ry it.
