  1. That's what's been bugging me about this.. There's not any frames demarcated anywhere along the roll. I've always do a pretty good job of loading and advancing at least one frame while the bottom plate is still off. I'm a bit anal about making sure the film is caught and advancing before I close it up. Short of videotaping the fact that I did that with this roll, and being able to watch back that video - I'm pretty certain that the film was exposed. I also had zero issues with rewinding - there was the usual mild tension during the rewind. Strange. I'll have to be more deliberate I guess.
  2. Hmmm.. Ok I'll buy that. Thanks.
  3. Greetings all! I just finished developing two rolls of TriX and the results of one roll has me scratching my head. Both shot on my M4. I'll call the rolls Roll "Good" and Roll "Bleh." Roll "Bleh" was shot on Thursday of this week. Uneventful loading and shooting. I've done this dozens and dozens of times. Roll "Good" was shot on Friday. No issues. Today they were both loaded onto their spools in the same bag, at the same time. Roll Good was first and wound up as the bottom reel in the (Two-Reel) Paterson tank. Roll Bleh was the second one loaded and became the top reel. I developed. D76 stock, etc. I used 800ml of liquid per step. i.e. 800ml of D76, 800ml of stop, etc.. I've processed my own film hundreds of times. This was an uneventful processing. When I finished and unrolled to hang, Roll Bleh was first unspooled. An iPhone pic of the negs are attached. The header was fully exposed. It then fades into a slightly lighter dark. And it then fades into some sort of partial-horizontal fog for nearly the entire roll. The tail frames of the film was entirely unexposed. Roll Good, at the bottom of the two rolls is 100% fine. Perfect frames throughout. The horizontal fog tells me that it's a processing issue? Roll Good was shot after Roll Bleh so nothing tells me it's a camera issue. No? Perplexed. Anyone have any thoughts? Many thanks.
  4. Nice work Iron Lion. The liner of my Leica-supplied cap is starting to peel away, forcing me to rotate the cap as I put it onto the lens shade. Hardly a stressful problem, merely a slight nuisance. What size OP/TECH cover have ya'll fit onto your Q?
  5. I just wrote a 1,000 word review of my experience with taking my Q into the open ocean in Hawaii, but I backspaced my page and lost the entire thing. A 17-day work and fun trip to Hawaii had me hankering to take a plunge and I decided to give this pouch a try. It seems almost tailor made for the Q. https://www.dicapacusa.com/product-page/wp-s3 It fits almost perfectly inside (even with a filter on) and most of the button and dials control are accessible. The AF and aperture rings are not. It's a simple seal top / velcro and roll down system. Very easy to use. I tested things twice with paper towels inside, and dunking the pac into a full sink of water. Flawless.. not even a droplet inside. I tested one more time once I got to Hawaii to guard against any expansion / contraction during travels there. No problems. On dive day, I was as excited about taking the Q for a swim as for what I was about to experience. I set auto shutter and aperture and the LCD to always on. The dive master told me his usual ISO for his Canon Mark-whatever.. and in we went. I'm happy to report that this DiCAPac worked flawlessly. Everyone and everything survived without incident. The Q's shutter was easy to trigger, all back buttons were easily accessible and could have been tweaked. A few days later we caught up with an army of dolphins.. Pretty rad stuff.
  6. Interesting. No, I didn't swap the memory card at the same time.. just a fresh battery. It was strange because it took a few seconds longer to boot up and then went to the date/time screen.. during the boot I knew something was odd because it didn't look or seem normal. Everything has been fine since.. I put it through some paces over the last couple of days.. Just weird.
  7. I updated my beloved Q to 2.0 when it dropped. I then used it a bit and all was well. It sat for maybe a week with a battery in it. I swapped a fresh battery in yesterday, turned it on - and it booted with a Leica logo screen. It then went to the set the 'date/time' screen. After doing that, it took me to the menus and I found that it had reset all of the settings that I had setup after the firmware upgrade (metering options, play screen options, etc.). Everything seems to be functioning ok, but this has / had me scratching my head. Has anyone else experienced this?
  8. That's a very simple and valued call that I totally overlooked. I always shoot in spot metering - so I'm sure that was the culprit. Makes complete sense. Thanks for the insight..
  9. I have experienced this and thought I had lost my own marbles when it happened. I burst shot a static scene, barely swiveling the camera to the right during the burst - with zero lighting change. And while the first frame was properly exposed, the subsequent ones were almost totally blown out. Exp bracketing was not on.

  11. Hi all - Chris from NYC here. I'm loving the forum and looking forward to contributing what I can... I spent my high school lunches in the darkroom, and have been shooting on my father's old Canon AE-1 since then. I spent a year with a Fuji XT-1 and just made a leap to my first Leica (Q). It's build, ease of use and image quality all have me completely re-invigorated. And now I will figure out how to directly post photos......
  12. Greetings all. Happy to be a new member of this great forum.. I'm two weeks into my Q and it's blowing my mind. Revival Cycles - a custom motorcycle shop + clothing store - was kind enough to let me loose in their storefront last week in Austin, Texas. Once I figure out how to post photos directly, I will do so. For now - here's a link: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/dpgylc24dwog1n4/AAB-YfSy_L51Isza6NOrF78Ca/revival?dl=0
