This doesn't move the needle at all, still perfectly happy with my ultra-reliable M10-P.

Honestly I was underwhelmed with the Q3 as well when I handled it at the Leica Store. For me AF-C is still unusable. It's probably on the same level as the second generation of A7's and 2 tiers below the current Fuji's. (currently, Sony > Canon/Nikon >> Fuji >> Q3) I trust accurate AF-S more than unreliable AF-C, and for that I'm OK with my Q2 Reporter.

Congrats, the Q2 reporter is the best looking Q imho.

Survey: Are you planning to buy the new Leica Q3?

There's no need to make snarky comments. I was simply agreeing with your choice of shooting with the SL2-S. I gave no advice. -

The SL2-S and Q3 are using the same generation sensor with BSI technology. There won't be any miracles --- the 24MP sensor will outperform the 60MP sensor quite comfortably. There would have to be another breakthrough in sensor tech for high resolution + high ISO performance to be realized. -

That makes sense, and I agree that a lower resolution sensor specialized in low light (ie SL2-S or monochrome) would be the better tool for your photography. The Q series are evolving with cropability (which equates to versatility) as the priority, and will continue the path of higher resolution sensors. I wouldn't be surprised if the Q4 came with a 100MP sensor with 135mm frame lines. -
My eyesight has also deteriorated over the years, and now I only use the M10-P with a 35mm lens during the day outdoors. When stopped down to F4+ critical focus is not an issue. I have a Q2 when I need to go out in darker settings. I thought about switching to the SL2-S but I'm quite confident I would not take that behemoth of a camera outdoors.

Leica Q3 Expectations vs Reality Impressions?
Mr.Q replied to nariza7's topic in Leica Q3 / Leica Q2 / Leica Q
Well for the vast majority of gear hoarders or professional photographers, yes. For most hobbyists, it is perfectly fine as an one camera solution. In fact, there was a time I shot with just the Q for over a year, and I only had a M10 and 35mm for a couple years as well. If I was smarter, I'd just rent a Sony A1 + 16-35 or 70-200 for the limited times I shoot with it per year. That would make much more financial sense to be completely honest. So to your original point, if I could only have one camera, it would be the Q. Everything else is complimentary. -
Leica Q3 Expectations vs Reality Impressions?
Mr.Q replied to nariza7's topic in Leica Q3 / Leica Q2 / Leica Q
I am the complete opposite. I consider the Q to be my main camera and I own all my other cameras to compliment the Q. -

Curious, in what kind of situation do you use ISO 25,000? Astro? -

Thanks, good to know that the difference is quite small in real world use. -

Right, comparison at ISO 6400 would make a bit more sense. Both photos in the comparison are unusable imo. -

Well if the Q3 shares a similar sensor with the M11, it will perform about a stop better than the Q2 in low light. I wouldn't consider that 'miles ahead' but better nonetheless. -

The Q2 Ghost looks stunning as well. I also like the Q2 Reporter and Q-P if going for the more stealth look. But I prefer the retro look and all my Leica's are silver. -

No, I made the mistake once of upgrading to the Q2 and returning back to the original Q. There are a few points that make me prefer the original. 1. What separated the Q from other fixed lens cameras (RX1, X100, GR) is it's simplicity and great haptics. I feel the Q3 is trying to do too much. It became bigger, heavier and clumsier as a result. I have other cameras that can do even more, and with the size/weight gap decreased, I think I prefer the other cameras that offer better ergonomics and much better versatility. 2. The original 24MP sensor created the most unique images with grit as opposed to the more clinical/digital looking images of the high MP sensors. Again, I have other cameras like the A7IVR for those type of images. And the 24MP sensor performed better than the Q2's 47MP sensor in low-light. I'm not sure about the Q3 but it probably performs even worse in low light with more MP. 3. I have the silver Q which is the best looking Q 😁
