  1. I had the grip on my Q and it was the first accessory I bought for my Q2 as it improves the handling significantly. I would like it to have ports for accessing the battery/SD card but that's only a minor inconvenience. I bought a strap from hyperion, much more comfortable than the one that came with the camera and I can wrap it around my hand for extra security when shooting one-handed. I bought a second battery which is essential for any camera, I haven't bothered with a flash as I've never learnt how to use them with great results and I just rely on the great low-light performance.
  2. Had no issue shooting at -4 when in Japan a few weeks ago, battery drained faster but that's just life!
  3. Owned both, I think the RX1RII wins on image quality (although rendering is a personal choice) and size. Everything else favours the Q2 - AF, MF, handling/feel, battery life, EVF. If you need/prefer the smaller size or 35mm length (more like 33mm in reality) then go for the RX1RII otherwise go for the Q2 assuming you can find one. I've just returned from Japan and the Q2 was a delight to use.
  4. Just for reference, my first fully charged battery lasted me about 280 images including transferring all of the JPGs to my iPhone. Second battery is at 200 images with 1 bar still left so I'd say 300 is very achievable. This is with power save turned off and auto off at 2 mins.
  5. I never once found the Q felt hollow or too light, people do complain about the strangest things sometimes.
  6. Aside from the Leica badge they're very different cameras but if you're happy then that is all that matters!
  7. ^ That's a great summary and reflects my results too. Fuji RAW files needed some careful attention for good results whereas the Q/Q2 RAWs are very easy to work with. That said, if you spend some time playing with settings you may well find a jpeg output that works for you. I know Eric Kim's review as all jpeg (Vivid with full contrast/saturation/sharpening) and he got some great shots. Personally I don't really like the idea of having to push settings that hard, I'd rather have a slightly more neutral starting point.
  8. Jpegs on my original Q were pretty poor, not even close to my X-Pro2 but Fuji is well known for having some of the best OOC images. I've seen some people have good success using the Vivid preset with contrast and saturation boosted on Q/Q2 but I tend to use RAW files.
  9. MF/zone focusing can be useful when either AF gets confused (too many subjects, low light, low contrast, etc) or for street photography where even a small AF delay can mean missing the shot. It's pretty common to set an aperture around F5.6-8.0 with focus ~5m and be pretty confident that anything you're shooting will be in focus. Personally I tend to use AF 99% of the time but the MF on the Q/Q2 is sublime so I don't blame anyone who uses or indeed prefers it.
  10. https://medium.com/@koehler.nico/leica-fotos-1-2-and-the-leica-q2-23be02a5c54a Should be on the app stores very soon if not already
  11. Not surprising, I imagine new sales of the Q-P have dried up other than those who are too impatient to wait for the Q2.
  12. Large RAW files and a comparatively small buffer mean it's unlikely to be fixed by firmware, a fast card will reduce the issue but with ~80MB RAW files you are always going to have a bit of a wait for them to copy to even the fastest card.
  13. I thought I'd read somewhere that Auto kicked in around 1/30s, maybe someone can try setting the shutter speed manually to determine when it comes on? I intend to leave it on Auto since I very rarely shoot on a tripod and that tends to be the only time where I've noticed IS worsening image quality since it seems to get confused by the total lack of vibration.
  14. Mine has just arrived with my local shop in New Zealand, pre-ordered before the official announcement and this is apparently the first one in the country. Fly out to Japan on Friday so it will get plenty of use in the next couple of weeks
  15. They are hard to find, I ordered one before the Q2 official announcement (trusted Leicarumors leaks about the battery being the same as the SL) and that's turned out to be a good bit of luck as it's waiting for the Q2 to arrive on Friday!
