  1. I have some sympathy. I used to put my Q into video mode without meaning to. God knows how I did it but it never happened at a convenient time. Eventually I made one of the users a sort of bog standard setting so I could always get back to that.
  2. I quite often record artist's paintings for them. There is no more critical audience. I have an SL but what they all love is the reproductions shot on the M9, for which I use a middle aged 90mm f2.8 or a 1980s Summicron 50 - both very low optical distortion. The 90mm is best. TBH using the M9 is a bit of a pain in the neck, since you do have an offset with the viewfinder. It's a question of shooting and then seeing if you are lined up, then adjusting and going again. The M9's screen gives no idea how good the colour in the files is - but you all know that. When artists see their work on a good quality screen they love them. The files are a modest size compared to a more modern camera but even with a good margin around the object they are more than ample for a screen and definitely good enough for top quality printing up to A3+. I don't know about bigger because my printer only goes up to A3+!
  3. I like Luigi wrist straps. I think a brown or black one goes with anything. https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/luigiluigicasescasesstrapsmore?_trksid=p2047675.m3561.l2563
  4. I think for weegee it was f11 but the thought is the same. We do have the extraordinary advantage of auto settings now… also we’re not limited to 400asa!
  5. Fascinating. Thanks Nicci. It certainly does date from analog days but I'm surprised they see it as a bad habit, or that it causes focus shift. I'm not even sure what focus shift means in this scenario. I've had it happen if I focus, then move the camera to horizontal, then up again. My beloved SL and 24-90 does this. But it didn't take long to train myself not to focus then point the camera down. Good luck! ps Later - on reflection, it's how I always focus my M9. I need to get something contrasty to be sure I've got the focus correct, then I recompose to adjust the framing. I don't see how else I'd use it. Of course an M9 isn't an autofocus camera, but I'm sure that's where the technique comes from.
  6. Is back button focussing not possible on a q2? It is on a q. If so it’s easier to leave the focus point in the middle of the screen, point the camera at what you want to focus on, focus, recompose then press the shutter. It’s much quicker. If I have misunderstood your post apologies in advance
  7. Top tip. When you get it put in a base ‘user’ file with the settings how you want it, because its possible to press the little red video button by accident then get in a pickle trying to get back to manual settings/photo only, especially if there’s a group of people in front of you posing. If you just go back to user 1 it’s sorted in a second. Guess how I know… 😅
  8. Logic says I should sell my Q but if I’m off photographing for fun it’s the camera I reach for.
  9. Thanks. If I hadn’t had the info and been new to these cameras the information would have been very welcome - and it may still be to people casually browsing
  10. Thanks. I only have the M9.
  11. And if you remember to switch the camera coding every time you swap a lens you're a lot cleverer than me. 🤭
  12. Thanks for the reply. I still think their design people will imagine this would drive away from the simplicity of the camera while the needs are covered by other cameras. Maybe I’m an old recidivist - I don’t even use my M9 on A!
  13. I don’t think IBIS could be implemented without new and much bigger lenses. The rangefinder in a Leica is also entirely manual. If you’d make the changes you want it would be another camera. I own and enjoy a Q which does all this, but it’s not an M and i can’t really compare it to my M9
