  1. You can read the Reid Reviews at www.reidreviews.com and check that on the wide angle starting at 28mm there is a difference in the corner with the previous version of the 28mm 2.8. This is due to the microlenses in front of the M sensor which I am not sure are implemented on the SL. In general wide angles perform better on the M in the corners. In the center, you would be pressed to see any difference...
  2. My M10P arrived brand new mis calibrated (it was good but not perfect) on the focus, thanks to this (I would not say easy) adjustment I got it spot on now without returning the camera. Thanks god the other calibrations of the patch were perfect, they are much more difficult to achieve (infinity, vertical, horizontal) .There is a detailed explanation on this forum with graphics and pictures on how to do this. I have now the 2mm Allen key always in my photo bag just in case... Also I never had to recalibrate my M240 for the 3 years I have been using it.
  3. I have one. It comes with a sub par plastic cup that I rapidly replaced with a nikon one I had in my stock of accessories. The build is fine. It is not made by Leica and it takes ages to get it. Besides that it does the job and allow close to the floor pictures or the use of a low high tripod.
  4. I hesitated between TL2 and CL coming from SL and Q which I am not selling. Sold my M but may go back to the M10 somewhere in the future. I went for the CL for 2 reasons. I need a viewfinder and I need the hotshoe to be free when I use a viewfinder to plug an optical viewfinder that I find more agreeable to compose pictures (Too much M experience I know) . The CL is a travel ultra-light setup. Minimum with a M FLE 35 or M 24 3,8. The only TL lens I need is the 11-23 for wide angle as my WATE is not wide enough on APS-C What I like on TL lenses is the close distance capability but they are still bigger than M lenses so I will only get the 11-23. What I miss is an hyperfocal or distance pre-setup... avail on the M indeed and SL too through the top LCD. The TL2 seems to have a basic distance display in manual mode, I hope the CL has at least the same capability.
  5. No problem here with EOS adaptor and TSE24mm Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Hello Gordon, this is indeed a bad service experience. I hope it does not hide a manufacturing quality issue as definitely, it does not look from your description that your camera got a shock that would even remotely create a sensor misalignment. The only other "bad treatment" would be vibrations, but again here, we could expect this camera to resit to this kind of issues. My SL got a serious shock as it has been falling from a tripod. I was lucky to still have the thick leather protector half case but still the metal got bent close to the battery door not affecting it whatsoever. The camera had some kind of strange noisy reboot after that, but nothing else. It still works great without any issue whatsoever. And since this shock I have created thousands of pictures. So my conclusion is that the camera is not fragile, but some cameras may not be lucky during manufacturing.... Yours seem to be one of them. I seem to recall you have 2 SL. Any issue with our other SL?
  7. Get a Canon 24TSE, it is the best TS at this focal.
  8. We need him to do a comparison with the Summicron APO M and possibly with the Noct for the out of focus rendering. I really like his reviews which are very factual.
  9. The R is a bit less sharp than the Canon 24TS, but excellent nevertheless, the 24TSE is a reference lens as far as I am concerned. Also the 28RPC is smaller... but without tilt capability and it is also cheaper. I have one for sale if someone is interested, PM me I will send you the pictures.
  10. I use the accessory shoe for my thumb from match technical...
  11. Is there a strobe interface on this grip like on the MF grip for the M?
  12. Also the seal is on the battery itself so sealing this door would be equivalent to a double seal...
  13. Gordon is right. I would add that if you cannot afford the whole SL system in one purchase, I would keep the 100-400 buy a Novoflex adaptor and purchase only the 24-90mm In any case BIF with Canon (Lens and Body) will be vastly superior than with the SL with current lenses which is only good for static subjects. One more data point is that the Novoflex adaptor does not support IS for Canon lenses, only the diaph and distance can be managed through the body. The DOF digital scale on the SL displays with the Canon lenses but is not accurate. Infinity is not infinity so difficult to use for hyperlocal... Not impossible to do as long as you identify the distance on the SL that is infinity for any given canon lens... This could have been implemented in a better way by Novoflex. This DOF scale does not works with M lenses.
  14. The Tri-elmar Mate is far beyond the Summilux and the Noct... It should be at the end of your list... I do not have the Summilux any more, but I do have the APO and the Noct and tested them extensively against the Tri-Elmar before selling my sample...
  15. OTOH, not all the update info for a given FW is published, that would be acknowledging issues that were not uncovered by the majority of the users. But with regard to this one, I would see no reason not to inform the Novoflex users that an update is backed in. I still have to perform the update, but is seems so insignificant that I have been dragging my feet. Anyway I will preform the update with the novoflex adaptor mounted and will report if I see any change. Did anybody spotted somewhere in the menus or exif info a Novoflex FW version number?
