  1. If anybody's interested, there is my M7 listed in 'buy-sell' thread on this forum in what You can consider a nice price (1800 EUR with 35mm leitz lens for which I've paid 700 EUR): http://www.l-camera-forum.com/classifieds/item/11843-leica-m7-summaron-3528/ And it is NOT a ticking bomb, everything just works as it should
  2. A friend of mine uses this lens almost exclusively (sometimes he uses also 35/1.4), You can take a look here: http://www.mariuszjaniszewski.pl/ 28/2.8 is great lens especially for modern look b&w - very high contrast, great sharpness, great dimensions of the lens itself (pre-asph versions are bigger, but definitelly not too big for comfortable use).
  3. Common opinion is that it's the same as m9, just without manual frame lines and USB socket. I used to have M-E and the main issue with that camera in my opinion is lack of firmware versions. For m9, You can download and install plenty of them (and one of them eliminated the problem with shutter). For M-E (at least when I owned it), there was only one firmware. And with that software, there was a problem with shutter (it used to hang after few shots taken in short time). Often, the only solution was to take the battery of the camera. So I suggest m9 if You have such an option. Concerning the ISO - yes, it's not high, but 90% of the best photographs taken ever has been made on ISO 25 - 400, so that's not an issue in fact.
  4. So, I finally bought the goggled 35/2.8. And I have to say that there is no problem with focusing, the viewfinder is very clear, in fact it's hard to see any difference within viewfinder between the goggled lens and the standard one. I need to test the lens right now, but I'm quite confident, that performance will be just fine.
  5. So, even a lens in such nice condition as f.e. this one: will make the finder less clear and harder to focus?
  6. more room to invest in lenses, the primary reason for using the M system after all. Not for everyone. I honestly tell, that I can't distinguish photos taken (on film camera) for example with Leica's 50/2 and Zeiss 50/2. Or Konica. Or something other. For years, many of those great Leica shooters in the 50's and 60's were shooting with Leica cameras and nikon or canon lenses. For me, the greatest thing in M system is their fantastic film bodies. I shall be on the look out for as new as possible 2nd hand M7 black paint.....watch this space! Only black chrome. Which in fact is better, because for many years it will look like new, and don't get that hipster's pretending it was on duty since 1950 and saw the Vietnam war. I think that M7 is the way to go.
  7. Hello, Recently I've got some problems with my Nikon scannner. I assume, that the plate which is responsible of the LED lighting work is damaged. Does anyone here has the Coolscan 9000ED electric scheme? Or, do You know if that plate which controls the LEDs is the same in Coolscan 8000?
  8. platypus - my goal was only to remind, that even with almost 15 years old small digital camera with max. ISO 200 (as I remember), You can still produce usable images
  9. First one digital, second one film. Thanks for the opinions. There is no problem using the crapiest modern camera as the photos are being used only to show them in the Internet:)
  10. Thank You! Maybe the 35/2.8 is worth trying. In fact, 90% of situations worth to photograph takes place during the day. And, it's very rare to see a really good photo taken with the lens opened more than f/4.
  11. In fact, spare batteries in the wallet or pocket is not a big deal - financially and if You consider the space that they occupy... Battery life in M7 is over 100 rolls.
  12. Some black and whites, Ilford PAN 400 as I guess...
