  1. I use Apo Macro Elmarit 100 R and Canon MP-E 65 Macro with good results.
  2. Has anyone experience with this set up? I'm planing to use it with M and R lenses with the Ronin motor focus. Any information will be greatly appreciated ....
  3. Sorry Steven, the footage is part of an art project that we will show in an art gallery. I think after the opening a version of the footage will be available in our web site. But not 4k, of course....Thanks a lot for your interest.
  4. Hi Pyridine, I´m shooting video with M lenses (90 APO, 50 APO and 35 FLE ) with my SL2. The image quality is very nice. I showed some 4k videos to a friend who happen to be a professional videographer ( publicity ) and he was amazed by the image quality. Manual focus is a question of practice. The M lenses have a short focus throw which is a minus, but the focus ring is very smooth and precise which is a plus. Wide angle lenses are easier to focus... The Sigma fp is an incredible camera for video and is L mount.
  5. I take pictures and I print at home and sometimes for exhibit in art galleries I order to a professional art printing labo for lager sizes. To my view a good print on a good paper ( Canson, Hahnemühle ...) is much, much more beautiful than the image you see in the monitor. Printing is an art and require practice and experience, but once you get it is very rewarding. I love the results I get from this combo: Leica M Mono)+50APO+Epson Surecolor...Edition is very important in printing. When i make a test I don´t look at the monitor any more. I look at the print test and make my corrections...
  6. I love my Sl2, but I will never part with my M Mono9. In combination with he 50 APO provides outstanding images that I cannot match with any colour conversion...I´m actually running some documentary projects that involves living and taking care of the subjects I´m taking pictures of and I have to wear the camera all the time. For this purpose the Mono+50APO is a perfect combo (weight and size)...
  7. Any way I find unacceptable this power issue in such an expensive camera. Leica should solve this problem as soon as possible.
  8. I have been shooting some video footage with M lenses on my SL2 . When shooting 4k 60fps the ¨lack of power ¨ message appears when the batterie is 25% more or less. This was with the old firmware. Yesterday I updated and will try again...I´ll let you know.
  9. Yes, the tube is 200 mm FL. About the cable I contacted Novoflex and they gave me a solution. They sell a cable with a 2.5 mm jack. As the Sl2 has a 3.5 mm port I just have to get one adaptor( 2.5 to 3.5 mm). The guy from Novoflex told me that they asked Leica about this and Leica answered that the the adaptor should work without any problem. When my Novoflex gear arrive I will let you know about my first experiences... Keep shooting those amazing images.
  10. This should be the complete setup with the Castle Micro focusing rail and the tripod collar, also made by Novoflex. Just change the camera for a better one (SL2) -:)
  11. This is the tube lens I intend to use. is made by Novoflex. The tube has a built -in achromatic lens and include an adaptor for direct use with the Mitutoyo.
  12. Hi Conrad, Thanks a lot for your helpful and very informative post. I plan to shoot still subjects, so mobility won't be a major concern. My wife is Japanese and there, in Japan, we can buy a Mitutoyo Plan APO for a reasonable price ( half than here in Europe ). About the focusing rail I´m thinking about two options. The one your are using (Cognisys Stackshot) or the Novoflex Castle Micro, made here in Europe... How do you attach the Stackshot.? Do you use a tripod or a vertical stand? By the way, the photo of the ant is outstanding! Congrats!
  13. Thanks Conrad69, My current setup for ultra macro is this: Gitzo Systematic 5 series. Arca Swiss Cube 1 tripod head. Arca Swiss focusing rail. Leica SL2. Canon MP-65 lens. Microscope fiberglass iluminator. With this setup I can get 5x magnification. As you know at 5x the DOF is very shallow and some times I need to do focus stackig. So far I manage to do it manually (quite cumbersome though..) I intend to go a bit further and try 10x and 20x magnification using microscope objectives. My question is if you use focus staking when shooting with your Qioptic and if so, with what kind of setup ( motorised focusing rail...).
  14. Anyone using microscope objectives?
  15. A link where you can see some experimental images shot with the SL2+ MP-65 Canon lens. Pigments, oil, water, ash..... https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10158467255363938&set=pcb.10158467266703938&type=3&theater
