  1. Ah, interesting. So they couldn't just use the shutter used in the M-A? Seems like Leica nailed that whole part of the camera decades ago.
  2. Interesting, that's what I was assuming. It's not like the M bodies have crazy-fast continuous shooting to begin with - benefits in battery life and size reduction (assuming they were not minuscule) would likely be worth it for me.
  3. I've always been curious about this since learning about the Epson RD-1. Would a manual lever for recocking the shutter have any meaningful impact on battery life, body size and/or reliability? Are there any real advantages to removing this automation from the camera or would this just be a one-way ticket to Ludditeville with no significant benefits?
  4. Thanks - this is just what I needed to know. I really appreciate the help!
  5. Hey all, I've been struggling with the focus of my 75mm Summarit - it's clearly back-focusing. Can I send my lens in to get recalibrated without sending my camera as well? I really am not interested in losing my camera for any serious amount of time. Also, is this something that can be reliably done without sending to Leica service? Has anyone used DAG to address an issue like this? Thanks in advance!
  6. IkarusJohn, my thoughts exactly. They're giving it the same Typ number as the M 262, and while each designation may not mean "anything", giving it the same designation as another had to be thought through. It's an M 262 without an LCD. If it isn't, they're just playing dirty tricks on us with how they name their cameras.
  7. I've mentioned the whole upgradable feature before and I stick to the desire and its viability. We've seen with the Q that the current tech can fit a modern full frame sensor/processor in an M6 body. That form factor is optimal as far as I'm concerned and would love for new bodies to allow for replacement of the motherboard/processor/sensor--especially if they're serious about committing to this idea of a RF without an LCD.
  8. The M-D Typ 262 name concerns me because it suggests that it's the same generation as the 240/262. The sensor in the M 240/262 is fine, but it's not exactly a spring chicken and I'm unsure how appealing any camera would be--especially one at the assumed price range--with a nearly 3 year old sensor/processor at its core. I'm hoping that the Q sensor/processor runs this camera, but I'd just expect a different 'Typ' at the end of its name. It's a damned shame because I'd be waiting in line on day one for such a thing.
  9. I'd do it in a heartbeat if I didn't have so much sentimental attachment to my current body. It improved upon many things I'm concerned about (e.g., weight and shutter noise) and removed all the things that I just considered deadweight (video, live view, EVF, etc.).
  10. Thank you all for the help on the subject - it gives me much more confidence moving forward. Part of me would love to just rely on the internal OVF, but I have come to really like seeing beyond the frame, hence the desire for an external OVF. Thanks again all!
  11. Thanks for the help everyone. earleygallery, of course I don't *need* to ask, but I don't see the harm in doing so before I drop $200 on something. If I've learned anything, it's that one's assumptions aren't always reliable.
  12. Hey there, anyone use a 25mm viewfinder with a 24mm lens? Is it really going to cause any tangible problems? I'm looking at the 21mm/25mm Voigtlander viewfinder which will give me the flexibility of moving to 21mm and/or 24mm focal lengths in the future. I'd prefer not to have a separate viewfinder for each lens and I'd *really* prefer to avoid the WATE viewfinder abomination. Thoughts?
  13. I'm glad I didn't wait to pick up my M240, but the M262 is exactly the camera I wanted. I'm hoping we see this "light" version come out simultaneously with the next model release.
  14. Thanks for all the feedback - this gives me a lot more confidence moving forward. I was at the point were I was looking for a backup body/lens for rainy days - it's amazing how few options there are for a true weather resistant body/lens combo with a small footprint.
  15. I define 'mild rainfall' as not drizzling, not pouring. That should clear up absolutely nothing. Thanks Jeff - yeah, everything is insured. I have a Zeiss lens, is there a huge difference to Leica in resistance to the elements?
