For sale, HASSELBLAD 501CM chrome, in mint condition, complete with Carl Zeiss Planar 80mm f/2.8 CFE, waist-level ultra-bright viewfinder with split image (rare!), magazine back, and various accessories, boxed; please, see pictures. The camera is one of the last 501CM models produced. Year of production: for camera body and magazine 2004 (SI), for lens 2003. It is an excellent piece with very little use (I had other two Hasselblads). Bought used from Ffordes; I was the second owner. I’m reluctantly selling it, but I prefer to shoot with smaller/lighter cameras now. The price of the entire set is €2450. Shipment/insurance cost via DHL is included in the price. Shipping within 2 days after payment verification by bank. Please note that, for shipments outside the EU, you may have to pay import taxes. From my experience, FS uses up all the available RAM, unless adjusted not to. I expect something similar with RL. I avoid installing Adobe software whenever possible, if only for the above reason. But I admit LR gallery management is difficult to get with other app. By the way, do people here run any LR alternatives?

I guess more RAM than apparently needed right now is kind of guarantee that the system will still be functioning in the future, when apps become RAM-hungry.

After nearly six years of doing photo editing (and other tasks) on Mac Pro Intel systems, I recently acquired a Mac Studio M1 Max. It's the base model, but with a 32-core GPU; it proved a wise choice for working with my photo galleries. It cost me just under 2000 euros, although I will have to get a better monitor or some expensive Thunderbolt 4 external SSDs to fully exploit its capabilities. For now, I mostly run Sonoma from a Samsung T7, with no noticeable deterioration in performance. The machine is extremely fast. Standard tests like Geekbench are OK, but more impressive are real-life demanding runs of apps like Photoshop, Topaz, or Matlab. At last, I managed to upload and edit various large scans; also, I found and deleted all the duplicates in the galleries---the Photosweeper and Cisdem run insanely fast! I would have gone for the Ultra, but it would cost 2000 euros extra. No way, although the Ultra's specs are a dream for a photographer. Other members here with analogous computer systems?

I think the issue has been raised in this Forum more than once that we do not know officially whether the interiors of the new M6 are identical to MP's. I hear the rumour and it appears sound that, financially as well as engineering-wise, production line of M6 should be practically that of MP's. But... no official statement, as far as I know. For instance, the celebrated smooth function of the MP's advance lever is partially due to the different machining of the materials (brass?). Is it the same on the new M6? Are top and bottom plates non-zinc? if generally 'yes', then I agree with you---no big difference.

Hope you don’t mind if I use the thread to ask this. What cost should I expect if I sent a 35mm Summicron-M ASPH to Leica for only a CLA? (First time after 25+ years of frequent use.) Thanks. -
