  1. Look this is silly this 240 vs 10 banter. Puts is right. If you have the 240, wait for the M11. Probably the best of them all coming eventually. More megapixels, too. I don't doubt the M10 is nice, and that the higher ISO photos are cleaner than the 240, but why spend 6500$ for the M10 when you know the M11 has to be a quantum leap ahead of all previous M digitals. It HAS to be, to keep up. SO, I am happy with my 240 for now. Puts is smart. He says wait for the M11 if you have the 240. Tradu up if you have the M9 or 8.
  2. I think I will keep my pristine M 240. And wait for the M11, which will probably be a knockout, and maybe more megapixels, too. I know the sensor is better in the M10, but as much as I like night photography, I can get by with a tripod and the Summulux 50 asph. Yeah, people are too eager to jump to the M10, and I know it's a nice camera. But the M11 will be fantastic. Leica has to keep up with the competition to some degree.
  3. I will buy the M10 eventually. Had the 240 for almost 4 years. Love it, but I can bw swayed by better ISO performance and simplicity. Probably makes sense to wait for the P.
  4. I am going to buy the M10, but will wait till Spring or Summer. My 240 has done very well, though, and I remain a bit unsure whether the trade makes sense, although I am a lowlight photographer often and will appreciate the M10. Does anyone know how LONG exposures can be on the M10? The 240 is limited in that regard.
  5. I reckon I'd love to see Leica offer at Q with interchangeable lenses. Upgraded sensor. EVF, etc.
  6. I have the latest 28 Elmarit and love it. Along with the 50 Lux I feel like I have all the lenses I need. The 28 El stays on the camera most of the time.
  7. M 240 since 2012 early. Before that MP. And before that Leica film M'S ALL the way back to 1972. Two lenses now: 28 Elamrit ASPH latest version, 50 Summilux ASPH. Can hardly wait to see what the new M later this year, I hope, will feature.
  8. Just ordered an Elmarit 28 (latest version) from B&H to go with my Summilux 50 ASPH. It's a small kit but I think these two lenses cover a lot of photo ops. Anyone else have the same basic combo for their Leica M camera? Happy with these two lenses?

    DAG

Just have to say Don Goldberg does great work on Leicas. Fast turnaround, too. Like two days. Had my 240's RF adjusted and lens, 50 Summilux ASPH, re lubed and checked. Apparently Leica no longer uses some old lube from 20 years ago and switched maybe 7 years ago to some new formulation that isn't nearly as good as the old. The lens had a tiny bit of play in it. Due to deterioration of the grease. Anyway, DAG does fine work but it is pricey. Very pricey was my experience, but what can you do!
  10. Sent my 240 off the DAG Camera. I don't think I'm bling but the rangefinder split images were not coming together at infinity. Also, the only lens I have now, the Lux 50 ASPH, has a very tiny bit of plat when attached to camera. Maybe something is not as tight as it ought to be. I have not had the camera checked for anything and have had it now since a month after the 240 hit the market. Anyone used DAG for checks and repairs for same?
  11. I am considering going to the lighter of the two lenses, but of course the cost is high. Who has done this and frankly, is it worth the cost -- and the loss of 1.4.?? I would have to figure that the Summicron AA 50 is going to be a lens that after 5 years will likely hold its value undamaged.
  12. I posted recently that I carry now just the M and the Summilux 50 Asph. Being an older guy, this suits, and there's a certain elegance in a table top Really Right Stuff tripod and the camera with a single lens. The question now is do I lower weight and refine this minimal package even more and exchange the Summilux for the Summicron 50 Asph Apo. Yeah, it's gonna be a costly exchange but for those who carry as I do with a 50 and have made this exchange, IS IT WORTH IT?? Really, are the images THAT MUCH BETTER or better at all, esp for landscapes shot at say F5.6, with the Summicron?
  13. I am discovering the one lens practice compelling, and thanks for all the replies. There is a creative factor, and a certain elegance to it. My only question is whether to exchange the Summilux for the Summicron Asph APO???
