Mary Lowndes stained glass St Andrew's Church Chancel, Ufford near Stamford. "Venite post me et faciam vos fieri piscatores hominum" – which translates to Jesus’ well known saying, "Come follow me and I will make you fishers of men”. Mary Lowndes, was one of the first notable 19th C. female stained glass artists & also a well known suffragette who designed many of the National Union of Women’s Suffrage Societies’ banners. The stained glass windows were fitted c. 1910; St Andrew’s Church chancel dates from 13th Century. Leica SL601 / SL 24-90mm BW, dunk -

Leica Vario Elmarit 24-90, keep or sell? As have Leica 35mm APO
dkCambridgeshire replied to daned's topic in L-Mount Lenses
The SL 24-90mm can produce outstanding images at any aperture throughout its zoom range. When I first acquired my example I invariably 'stopped down a bit' thinking that smaller apertures enable better results – but I soon learnt that full aperture can be used with impunity. -
I bricked my brand new SL3 after less than 5 minutes of use...
dkCambridgeshire replied to NicoX's topic in Leica SL System
Try reformatting the SD card in your computer and then fit it back into the camera. If there is some charge in the battery, the camera might then switch on – enabling the SD card to be reformatted 'in camera' and battery to be fully charged. You could also try another SD card after reformatting same using your computer. -

Only one solution for removing dust from a fixed lens digital compact camera's sensor and lens – a qualified technician's service. Forget about using a vacuum which unlikely to remedy the problem.

Any SL owners using Canon's TSE lenses?
dkCambridgeshire replied to geesbert's topic in Leica SL System
i use the original Novoflex SL/EOS adapter with various Canon TSE lenses on my SL 601; this adapter is not compatible with the SL2 series and SL3. Lens aperture is thus controlled by the camera. The Novoflex adapter is not suitable for EOS AF lenses but for manual focus EOS lenses it's fine. -
Further Edit: When I attached the SL 24-90mm, a lens firmware update commenced which took maybe 5 minutes . Lens firmware is 3.0; no idea what lens firmware was installed previously.

Just tried installing SL601 Firmware 4.1. When dragged to the SD card can see it loading and ends with a PING .... but when trying to load firmware to the camera receive message "NO FIRMWARE FOUND" . Will reformat SD card & try the USA version. Tried two freshly formatted SD cards so far. EDIT: The Leica USA Firmware 4.1 update is fine. See #1 above. The update advice received via email earlier today links to a dodgy download

The Guildhall, Peterborough Cathedral Square. Completed in 1671, the Guildhall was once the city's market centre with additional buildings long demolished. Rowdy abusive youths (lads and girls) congregated there yesterday evening – challenging me to take photos of their unmentionables. Safety in numbers. Leica CL / TL 11-23mm; ISO 800. BW, dunk
