  1. Thanks for all replies - I think I will send the camera in to Solms for a visit - could probably do with with a CLA anyway. Thanks again..
  2. Thank you for your reply David. I had previously tried changing the battery but that did not solve the problem. Regards Brendan
  3. Hi, the meter ( or ISO setting wheel) on my M6 ttl is consistently off by 2 stops under. I have verified this by comparison with my Sekonik L-508 and other digital M's. The meter itself works fine but I have to set the ISO dial at iso 100 if I am using TRI-X at 400 ISO and ISO 25 if I am using 100 ISO film. The dial is aligned the correct way on the rear of the camera and I have cleaned the gold contacts. Any ideas what is causing this? Many thanks.
  4. Jeff, I mostly use LR 4 for the global adjustments and PS 5 for local dodge and burn adjustments. I do use Silver Effex Pro 2 occasionally too, depending on the photo. I try to thick of the finished image on the screen as the "print". Agree totally with you - the end result should be all about the print.
  5. BTW , best of luck with the MM purchase urbanshoot.
  6. Thank you AB007, Jeff S and urban shoot - much appreciated. Jeff, the Landscape images were all made using the Monochrom with the exception of two images , I think, which were made with the M9. The India pics were all taken with my M9 and actually very little post processing was required - that is the beauty of the M9 files - just import them to LR and you are almost ready to go! :-) The MM files take a bit more work to get the best out of the files, as did producing B&W white prints in the darkroom :-) Mostly just contrast adjustment and some local dodging and burning. The website is one of Photoshelter " Beam" templates . Brendan
  7. I have been using the the MM for the past year and a half and I must say that I really love the images from it. There is only one area where I feel that film has an advantage and that is in the transition to overblown highlights. Just expose to preserve highlight detail and then it's not a problem but sometimes it's not possible. Some of my MM images Brendan Williams Photography
  8. Thank you for the kind comments Robert and Harry.
  9. Hi, The yellow filter effect is subtle - I used one on all of my images on a recent trip to Myanmar photographed with the Monochrom - mainly to lighten the skin tones slightly. You can see the results here: Brendan Williams Photography
  10. Important to ensure that the rangefinders on the M9 and MM are calibrated the same, or a lens may focus correctly on one camera but not the other. I had to send my MM back to Solms for calibration to ensure that focus was correct with my lenses which, together with the M9, had all previously been calibrated at Solms. After receiving the MM Solms asked that I send in the M9 and a lens to act as a reference to ensure the calibration matched. They are all a joy to focus now.
  11. I have experienced the very same problems with my M9 - always using San Disk cards and even after the latest firmware update. The big problem is that the card is so damaged that the computer will not mount it or read it so recovery software will not work! I reasoned that if the card was formatted again then it might mount on the computer and recovery software should find the files since no other photos will have been taken to overwrite them in the interim. I couldn't format it in the M9 but a friend did it for me in his Canon. After it was formatted the computer could read the card and the files were recovered using Photorescue. Obviously there is a major risk doing this that the files may not be recoverable so I would not try it for irreplaceable photos. I threw away all my SanDisk cards and changed to Lexar Pro 16gb cards and have not had a problem since.
