  1. Let me tell ya a bag to avoid. Wotancraft. I have two and the leather strap is now cracked up falling apart on one used the most. Looks awful. Money wasted. I suspect, fake leather. Nice looking bags when new but not made for real use. I stick now with Billingham, the Hadley small. I don’t fuss over bags any more.
  2. Hasselblad, the X1D specifically. If you want similar IQ and budget, why not stick with used Leica. I would get a used T or TL with some used M lenses. Very nice images. Don’t let the price of a used T turn you off. It is no slouch combined with M lenses. Even very old M lenses.
  3. The reason I am not running out to get the Q2, my original Q is just fine for travels unless the focus of the trip is photography. If you gotta have the latest and greatest, then by all means get the Q2. Its your money. But nothing wrong with original Q, CL, T, TL, for light travel. Heck, you can pick up older T for practically pennies. It’s no slouch. And wait for Q2.
  4. If turns out he posted to get paid for views, would hope the forum would remove this thread. That being said, I think was a pointless article. The Q or the Q2 would not be this guy’s cup of tea, so why bother writing about it? Who cares. For me the Q fills a gap. It doesn’t do everything and I don’t demand that much of it. But what it does do, it does very well. I love it as my travel camera when I want to go light. Sure, my M and my x1D can out perform. So what? It is what it is.
  5. I agree with other reply, if you aren’t using your Q, you aren’t going to use the Q2. Unless you live where there is a monsoon daily, no reason not to use it. If you did manage to get some dust, is no big deal. Easy to remove spots in post processing. I get dust all the time with interchangeable lens cameras. No big deal. And you can have it cleaned if is a problem. As for me, sticking with original Q unless win the lottery or something. Will wait for next M. But I do think the Q2 is fantastic and would buy if didn’t already have a Q.
  6. Still though, a significant difference. I rather like it. Another camera I use has much better color than my previous older Leicas. I had to convince myself that those actually were the colors I see with my eyes, and they were.
  7. When is a new M coming out with 47mp sensor? I think will save my pennies for that since already have a Q. Certainly it must be around the corner? Glad skipped the M10 now.....
  8. The most interesting part of this article is the heat issue and explaining why Leica stuck with SLR for medium format.
  9. This is the kind of back and forth, why I mostly stopped reading this forum over a year ago. There always is at least one, sometimes more than one, that just keeps pointless conversation going and acts like they “own” the thread. Is territorial behavior. Most of us have better things to do, like using our equipment more than writing about it. There is nothing new to add to Hasselblad vs Leica as far as the X1d and the SL. Give it a break, will ya?
  10. But but but, the x2d hasn’t been ‘officially’ announced. However, no doubt somebody will keep it going. I hadn’t been up here for a year or more and surprised, well actually not surprised really, same people keeping it going! 😉. Why is that? Totally different cameras. No real comparison.
  11. Yes, any maybe this thread will finally die. Yeah! 😂
  12. If a new X1d or whatever it turns out to be from Hasselblad is coming, don’t get your hopes up to get one for over a year or more, even after announced. I wouldn’t be selling mine anytime soon in hopes of replacing with new and improved. It is though very odd to just drop it from production without announcing a replacement. It is still a very new camera. Very strange news.
  13. The lever thing. My opinion is it is a plus. Just consider, the position of the lever and where the shutter button and timing dial was designed on all prior 35mm film cameras. Was all about ergonomics around film use. Now, here comes digital, and they got rid of part of that equation and we end up with a slippery camera design! Really, they could come up with a totally different kind of body for digital that would give us a more natural grip. But, they stick with the film type of body design. Oh well.
  14. That really is the difference between those of us who really appreciate the monochrome versions, and those that probably won’t or have no need. There is a difference, but it is not for everyone. Besides the performance, the fact we are willing to pay more for less of a camera.....but getting more out of our b/w images, says something. For me it comes from a life time of appreciating the works of past photographers who really pushed the envelope in the dark room creating incredibly beautiful b/w images. The real work begins after photo is taken. So, in the digital age, having a camera that gets you closer to that film experience is what the monochrome does for me, or a larger format camera.
  15. That may be true. In fact, I suspect the 246 is last of the monochrome versions, unfortunately. We are a super small market. Too bad. Oh well. End of my Leica M buying. The 246 was the last.......unless. I get as good files converting medium format to b/w most of the time, but is not the same shooting experience.
