  1. No I wont. SL3 minus 250 grams and a bit smaller overall and I might be interested again.
  2. One of my last photos taken with the SL2, which I since parted ways with. Edinburgh Castle during the Tattoo dress-rehearsal show in early August 2022.
  3. Maybe. Probably right. Hesitating. Used to have M9, added M246, then replaced/downsized to M10. Looking at my output, the answer is clear, and considering the fun I've had using the M, it is telling too. (Anyone interested in the APO SL lenses? Can take offline, currently listed on a domestic auction site in Switzerland, may or may not post under Classifieds here).
  4. I only have 'my' photography as an enthusiast amateur, so 'work' as such is not in the equation, except that I have AF needs as well. 10 years of M only, I'd moved to the SL2 as my only camera two years ago. Similarly, I've felt that the magic was gone fairly quickly moving to that platform up to the decision to sell it off. Camera body and the Sigma 14-24 are gone, if anyone is interested in my remaining pristine 50mm and 90mm SL Summicrons, give me a shout. Next up: back to M, or over to, say, Nikon Z. Not that I would expect 'magic' in the latter, but at least a platform that's smaller/lighter/economically more reasonable, IQ holding its ground vs SL, and AF likely more convincing.
  5. Decided to cut the cord and sold off the SL2 (and the Sigma 14-24 along with it). The 50 and 90 Cron SL are up for sale as well. Never fully bonded with the system, and that's after 10 years of utmost inspiration shooting M exclusively (M9, M246, M10). Parts of me is toying with the idea of returning to the M fold indeed, as the other part of my thinking would take me all the way back to the very first camera I purchased with my own money in the early 90ties, and that was a Nikon (here I am looking into the Z7 ii or its successor if/when)....
  6. I don't disagree with either of the two perspectives. Size is a lesser issue, but weight started to bother me. Indeed, my previous M10 with the 90m Cron pre-Asph didn't feel much different in the bag, size-wise. Plus the grip on the SL is nice. Now, one of the main drivers for the system change was the AF that I wanted to (re-) introduce. So in I went with the two SL Summicrons. Those on the SL2 make for a noticeably heavier combo than my previous M-stuff. I do not own any M-lenses anymore, so that potentially alternative avenue isn't feasible.
  7. I am parting ways with my SL2. I carried it around with 2 lenses on a recent city trip. It felt a bit like a drag, or perhaps I missed some inspiration. Resale value is reasonably good, so not losing $$. Sold off the Sigma 14-24 DG lens along the way. Sitting on the APO Summicron SL 50 and 90mm respectively, hesitating to sell them for the time being, wondering if that SL3 might turn out lighter (main priority) and perhaps in a wee bit smaller package, overall. Used to shoot M for 10 years, exclusively pre-SL. I start to realize that by moving on to the SL system, while I like using it, the 'inspirational' factor of owning/using the M, which made all the difference to me and the end results aka photos, was largely gone. Add the additional bulk, and I admit that I never fully bonded with it. Ended up leaving it at home most of the time. Yes, grip amazing, viewfinder amazing, lenses amazing, but big, heavy, ISO fine, AF fine enough, just. Photo bag value north of some people's used cars (a fact that never bothered me the slightest carrying 2 M-bodies, lenses attached, and 2 additional lenses in bag, just to point that out).
  8. Nice series. Why the sepia tone, a particular reason why you processed them this way? (will admit that I could very well see them in a more mundane black/white conversion). Just asking. Nice shots!
  9. First posting in a while. This was taken pre latest FW-upgrade on a recent hike overlooking the Lake of Lucerne. SL2 with SL 90mm
  10. Size/weight has always been my conundrum. Coming from the M (which I do not longer) to the SL2, I added the 50 and 90 SL primes, in addition to Sigma's 14-24. I won't bother trying let alone seriously considering Leica's zooms given their size. Mind you I don't do professional work, I am an amateur initially fallen in love with M9 and that system's small lenses. So as far as I am concerned the primes are 'my way to go'.
  11. I did just the same (SL2 owner) ...well, a bit different, I added the 90 SL APO for my 50th ... picked it up at the store yesterday as an addition to the 50 SL and the Sigma WA 14-24. Will admit that for a moment, I guess upon announcement of the SL2-S, I started looking into the Canon R5... Just browsin' kinda lookin' if you will... then took the plunge on the 90 and am happy, deep down it is the glass, most of anything, that keeps me around. 🙂
  12. Mind sharing some of your street work? Just for some inspiration.
  13. Even coming from an M it isn't too big. The grip makes all the difference. In fact, in hand, the camera is so much more comfortable to handle (duh!) than an M. An hour into a walk, M in hand, my hand starts to ache. Full disclosure I didn't do leather case or sling or anything so I used to carry it naked so to speak. Again, I for one agree that the SL2 with an SL-Cron on it feels very well balanced.
  14. Same here as to native 50 that would crop to 75 and 90. Then again, I much prefer 28 over 35 so that answers that for me. I sold off all my M gear and moved into SL2 with the Sigma WA zoom and 50mm APO Cron. The 'case' I start to make, to rationalize it all, is to swap the 50mm Cron with the 90Cron (which I had intended to add anyways), and add the Q2M as a vehicle to cover 28-75 (ish), but probably more importantly, to add the flexibility (and satisfy that GAS, a bit, as well, I will admit).
