Thank you, Gary. Very pleasant work obviously ;-) Marc

Thank you, Albert. Yes, we did, but during the day. Next time for the sunrise ;-)
  4. I am just back from Santorini (posted today in the Leica S part of this forum). If one lens, as suggested by the first answer to your post, I would for sure go with something wider than 35mm. I'd say 28mm as being the most flexible. If you're ok to take three lenses, than I'd recommend you go 21mm, 50mm and 90mm. The widest I had was equivalent 24mm and I'll take something wider next time. That is really an amazing place :-)

    Santorini

http://marcderydt.com/santorini/ A gallery with a few pictures from Santorini and mostly Oía, the best-known and most picturesque village on the island. Santorini in a a few words: white houses, blue domes, sea, sunset, churches, selfies, Chinese weddings, donkeys, stairs, cliff, doors. Can't wait to go back actually ;-) As to equipment, I went there with an S-Typ007 and the 70mm, 120mm and 30-90mm Vario lenses. The zoom proved to be very useful and was used the most. No issue with the camera whatsoever and I am still amazed at seeing what comes out. I had a Leica Q as a back-up, but hardly used it. The files were imported into Capture One and processed in Photoshop as needed.
  6. Autofocus (AFs), but no tracking.
  7. Yes, exactly: easiest solution is to take the lens to your dealer.
  8. Wouldn't your Leica dealer help you update the lenses with a demo S007?
  9. In my experience AF with the 24-90 is instantaneous. With the S120, you notice that the focusing is taking place: not more than 1 second, I'd say. I think that it is fine for most uses. This is in bright daylight.
  10. This is from the S120mm, handheld, 1/800sec at f/2.5, ISO 50. Straight from the camera through Capture One and then a crop. I very much like the details and the overall rendering.
  11. I just got the adapter today: - No stacking possible (specifically mentioned in the user manual) - No CS, AF and metering available - AF noticeably slower than with the 24-90mm zoom (or than an S lens on an S006 or S007). I would for sure no try and use that combination for sport. There is a bit of hunting as well, even in plain daylight and on a non-moving subject. - Just briefly tried it with the S100mm, but don't see why it would be different with the other lenses. I'd be happy to hear other feedback, especially if the experience is different from mine ;-) Marc PS: Faster AF with the S120mm and less hunting. That lens is just back from Leica Germany though (AF issue discussed in a separate thread).
  12. Don't worry too much: having this solved will be a major selling point for the SL II ;-)
  13. My experience so far has been with using an SL with the 24-90mm zoom compared to an S007 and a Nikon D4. this was shooting wild water canoe kayak, which I am used to do, as my kids are competing in that sport. I agree with the views above, but would add that the big let down was the viewfinder of the SL in very bright condition (harsh sunlight reflected as well by the water). This has been discussed extensively in a thread here and in the getdpi forum. I doubt that I would take the SL again for that type of shooting. Better the "slower" S and seeing what you are looking at ;-) if I was making a living of shooting fast-paced action in bright sunlight, I would definitely go with the D5. What you get from a 300mm 2.8 lens cannot be obtained either from the current SL offering. Marc
  14. Same issue (battery door) here with an S006 after some two years. The camera went back to Germany (from within Europe) and came back after ten days, including a sensor as clean as I have ever seen. I.e. the camera was checked and cleaned. No cost to me. Looking at many posts here over time, I believe that the store you buy from makes a huge difference when an issue pops up. It seems that "your mileage vary" in the US. I'd say that if you buy new and the dealer cannot help you to your full satisfaction, you should definitely not buy from them ever again. For what it's worth... Marc
