  1. I live in Barcelona and am a professional photographer and teacher. My advice: M11 + 35, M10M + 21 + Visoflex. For a beginner the 21 will be challenging, but if you have it, use it. I would go out with only one camera and one lens, leaving in the hotel the other gear. Be very careful in those places where lot of tourists come together... hide the camera if possible when not using it and keep an open eye.
  2. I do have the Apo-Lanthars 50mm and 35mm, which I use on the M10-r and the M10M. Really excellent, flawless lenses, but heavy and big compared to my standard lens, the last Elmarit 28/2.8. A 35/3.5 Apo-Lanthar would be much appreciated!
  3. I've been photographing with Leica since the 70's (IIIc and M2). In 2010 I bought the M8, later M9, M9Mono, M240, M246... Three years ago I sold everything, went into the GFX system, and while I was/am very satisfied with it, I was missing a Leica badly... I bought therefore a M10M 2 months ago, and was again happy. The quality this camera can offer is unbelievable: no limit in ISO, beautiful tone gradation and microcontrast, detail comparable in some way with the one delivered by the GFX100S. Last but not least is the physical experience of holding it, the size and weight, the form of the M film bodies, the nice shutter's sound, being everything matte black. Yes, do upgrade! 🙂... Nearly forgot mentioning: the money was not enough for the 50mm Summicron M Apo, so I bought the 50mm Apo-Lanthar VM instead: with it I am recovering the sense of the 50mm focal length after decades of being a wide angle photographer because the most used lenses were the 35mm and the 28mm.
  4. Actually, the M10M is the reason I am working again with Leica M. I sold all the Leica gear, including a M246, 4 years ago and replaced it with Fuji GFX cameras and lenses. Everything was fine… but I missed the Monochrom very much. Last october I bought a M10M, the last 28 Elmarit and the 35 Apo-Lanthar. I’m very satisfied with the M10M. The quality is unbelievable, also with the Super-Angulon R 28mm shift, which I did not sold. I very much like how small the Leica M is compared to the GFX100S. The 40 mono megapixels of the M10M are actually, when printed, quite comparable to the 102 color megapixels of the GFX100S. The absence in the M10M of sensor stabilization doesn’t worries me.
  5. The M10M is incredible: how the shadows can be recovered allows managing scenes with a high contrast without losing detail in the highlights. Absence of noise is really amazing: that dreadful banding that appeared with the M246 is no more there.
  6. Five years ago I sold all my Leica gear (M246, MM2, 19mm, 21mm, 28mm, 35mm, 50mm) except the 28mm S-Angulon shift. I worked from then on with the Fuji GFX 50S and the 100S. Everything was ok… but I missed the MM2 VERY MUCH. One month ago I bought a M10M, and began working again with the 28mm S-Ang shift, but also with 2 new lenses, Elmarit 28 and Apo-Lanthar 35. What a pleasure, what a satisfaction! I still work with the GFX100S, which has IBIS etc, but the Leica feeling is a very special thing.
  7. It's the Fuji GFX. Being a DSLR with an electronic viewfinder it has a short flange distance. This allows using medium format lenses with special shift adapters (KIPON). I have the 35mm for Pentax 645 and the 45mm for Pentax 67. I also use the 24mm TS Canon lens with a 'smart adapter' that allows changing the f. stop. The results are superb.
  8. For color I had the Leica S006, but it was stolen on february 2017... So I found myself with 2 beautiful S lenses and no body for them. Tried to sell them, but without success. So I took profit, at the end of 2017, of an offer and bought a medium format camera with some lenses. The 2 S lenses were accepted by the shop as part of the payment. After comparing pictures made with the 246 with the ones made with the medium format camera I had to accept how redundant the 246 had become taking into account my very own way of working. This is the explanation for selling the 246.
  9. yes, I'm selling it because I've changed to Medium Format: quality is obviously better... and I need color with it.
  10. Hi, in the next days 15 very big prints will be exhibited on the left wall of the Besòs River, near Barcelona. This is an open air exhibition showing a selection of the landscape and cityscape photos I took in this area in the first months of 2017 on assignment of the Catalan Architects Guild. From a total of 60-70 final photographs 15 were selected for this exhibition. I did the majority of these 15 with the Monochrom Type 246. Each print is 300 cm x 450 cm. Yes, that big... Material is plastic canvas, using the newest inks developed by HP, so called latex inks. The detail is amazing!
  11. I asked Leica Wetzlar about a 30mm Shift Lens 2 years ago. Their answer was: "No, we won't make such a lens, never. You have the Sinar system for that." When last year my S006 was robbed, and I had the 30-90 and the 70 with no use because of lack of the body, I stopped thinking about this. But 2 months ago my regular photo retailer made me an offer regarding the Fuji GFX, which included buying those 2 S lenses, that was so terrific that I could not refrain from buying it. With this body I can use the Pentax 645 35mm and the Pentax 67 45mm, via KIPON shift adapters. It works.
  12. I worked with a 45mm Pentax 67, with a Zörk shift adapter, on a S006. I think that's the widest usable. After my S006 was stolen, I got the Fuji GFX 50s. With it I can use a 35mm Pentax 645 with a KIPON Shift adapter... results are excellent.
  13. Hi, Neil, you mentioned the 4x5 view camera as something to be considered. In my opinion THE reason for choosing this camera is the possibility it offers of shifting, tilting and swinging, ie the best way of controlling the image geometry and where the horizon should be. No less, no more. Regards from a Barcelona in state of shock...
  14. I would travel with one M10 and the 007, but considering the M10 as the backup camera, not the other way round. And I would include a moderate WA for both. Regards
