Hi Richard: I asked the same question to my longtime friend and computer guru, since I'm also faced with reluctantly 'upgrading' to an iMac soon - the Apple external CD drive has mixed reviews and is an absurd price - he recommended either the Transcend TS8XDVDS-W, or the LG GP65NS60 (the LG also has M disc support, fwiw). I'll probably try the LG - if it's as good as our LG tv and washing machine, I'll be happy :-)
