AZach Posted March 30, 2017 Share #16942 Posted March 30, 2017 Heidelberg is quite near, the town and the castle behind have a different name.
Michael Geschlecht Posted March 30, 2017 Share #16943 Posted March 30, 2017 (edited) a bit sneaky there using some misinformation to throw us off. When I searched kurfuersten-stube, I got the wrong place town, but with Spargel in mind, i was able to find the right one. Unfortunately, I dont have anymore pictures to share that qualify, so I'll have to let someone else take this one. I just love how enthusiastic the Germans are about their Spargel that they've made a monument about it. Thanks for sharing Hello Phil, I don't see a group of statues commemorating Spargel as being "enthusiastic". I think a more accurate word would be "reasonable". AZach Posted April 5, 2017 Share #16944 Posted April 5, 2017 Hello, the town in question claims to be "The capital of Asparagus" and organizes annually their "Spargelfest" during the peak season. Any visitor could confirm that it is "reasonable" to get at least a little "enthusiastic". Regards, Arto
pechelman Posted April 5, 2017 Share #16945 Posted April 5, 2017 (edited) Michael, I meant no disrespect by referring to the German culture as being enthusiastic about Spargel, but certainly I can see that just a single monument would exemplify just a reasonable glimpse into German life during the Spring when that vegetable is in season. However, in my limited travels in Germany I find it wonderful that they really embrace and celebrate this seasonal vegetable with Spargelkarten at many restaurants. It was to this overall phenomena, in combination with the monument, in which I was really referring to as enthusiasm. I'm having a hard time thinking of any other place I've visited that devotes an entire page of menu to one seasonal ingredient like the Germans do with Spargel. I love it and am very excited for a nice Spargelsuppe and some Spargel mit Hollandaise when I return in a few weeks. Best regards, Phil And to everyone else, Arto just gave a huge hint to find this city. Good luck! Edited April 5, 2017 by pechelman
Michael Geschlecht Posted April 5, 2017 Share #16946 Posted April 5, 2017 Hello Phil, I know that you were not being disrespectful. What I was saying was that enthusiasm for Spargel is reasonable. Best Regards, Michael
