prunelle Posted September 17, 2011 Share #101 Posted September 17, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Not always. You'd be amazed if you knew how many I clear up having been automatically moderated. There are five auto mod posts above this one I'm sure that many get caught but this one got through. Is this cleaning a big part of being a moderator here?

Ivan Muller Posted January 24, 2013 Share #103 Posted January 24, 2013 Of course we can see the difference in a glance.. I really would like you to give me some lessons one day Jaap:)
Stein K S Posted January 15, 2014 Share #104 Posted January 15, 2014 Of course we can see the difference in a glance.. Hi Jaap Just curious... While the forum rules above are quite extensive, I can not find the role description of the Moderator. The term in it self gives some clues, but could you briefly give a description of your role... And how you got it maybe.... Regards, Stein
pico Posted January 16, 2014 Share #105 Posted January 16, 2014 Hi Jaap Just curious... While the forum rules above are quite extensive, I can not find the role description of the Moderator. Some things are better expressed in terms of the 'spirit of rule' rather than specifics to be pulled apart with semantics. Seriously, look to the discourse of 'justice' in USA legal scholarship. The word 'justice' appears rarely in modern legal scholarship. I leave it to the reader to consult the literature, in particular the essay, "Just Silences: The Limits and Possibilities of Modern Law" by Marianne Constable. Printmaker Posted January 9, 2017 Share #107 Posted January 9, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) In skimming through the rules, I find nothing about posting nudes. I have a new series of black and white nudes I shot during a Ralph Gibson workshop - shot with a Monochrom - that I want to post in the "people" category. Is this acceptable? jaapv Posted January 9, 2017 Share #108 Posted January 9, 2017 Why should there be a rule against nudes? It is an integral part of photography and pictorial art in general. It is a convention to mention nudity in the thread title, in case anybody should not wish to look and we cannot accept pornography, but that is all there is. We do not apply the Hays Code
Printmaker Posted January 9, 2017 Share #109 Posted January 9, 2017 (edited) Thanks Jaap. I'll post in the morning with an appropriate title. It is night here on the other side. Edited January 9, 2017 by Printmaker
david strachan Posted January 9, 2017 Share #110 Posted January 9, 2017 (edited) I like looking at nudes...they remind me of Weston's "Pepper" series... . Seriously though...well done, men or women don't offend me. I rather like the human form. Undressed lions and giraffes are fine too. It's one of the very first genres, of photography and all art. all best.. PS...Perhaps a separate section in the Leica Forum. andybarton Posted January 10, 2017 Share #114 Posted January 10, 2017 What is the difference between nude and porn ? You know the difference, as does everyone else, I am sure. Porn will, of course, be deleted from the forum.
gyoung Posted January 11, 2017 Share #115 Posted January 11, 2017 Well Andy, I admire your certainty! As in all 'art' there is uncertainty in the boundaries. But I don't do either sort of photography so your decisions wouldn't affect me. Gerry

There is good taste and bad taste and of course the very subjective idea about it !
jaapv Posted January 11, 2017 Share #117 Posted January 11, 2017 Andy is right, of course, this forum will never accept pornography, But I agree that it would be a subjective decision. Fortunately we have a group of moderators from widely varying backgrounds to reach a consensus, were it to come to that. Time and culture do determine perception. David Hamilton is a good example of a changing perspective.
jmschuh Posted January 11, 2017 Share #118 Posted January 11, 2017 David Hamilton is a good example of a changing perspective. After accusations of rape from several former (underage /child) photomodels perhaps David Hamilton is not a good example. But I know what you mean. Jock Sturges would be a more reputable example...

As a photograper and also father of three I really dont get it what happens in the mind of these guys. Makes me just sand and angry..... mca Posted January 13, 2017 Share #120 Posted January 13, 2017 Common sense is a good "rule of thumb" judgement technique in my experience. If something you're about to post raises doubts or questions in your mind, then it's usually too near the limits or even beyond them for some people. Common sense would then advise you against posting it. In other words, when in doubt if it will offend someone or not, don't post it. This goes for nudity as well as for violence or other dividing topics where different people from different cultures might have different boundaries about them. Just my opinion of course, others might differ and that's ok.
