Here's my customized M4-P. The front and top are blacked out, and the red dot has been removed. It also has the MP anti-flare viewfinder upgrade, an M3-style lens release guard and the 75/135 framelines have been masked out.

Here's my 'black beauty', an absolutely mint, as new M4-P (one of the last 900 made with the M6 in Wetzlar with the M6 framelines) next to its sister a 1971 M4. And another German engineering masterpiece below.

I'm quite happy with my M4-P. I have an early one from 1982 (brass, early frame lines), it's the Everest edition so it has a nice little logo on the top plate to go with all the other logos on the camera.

It's in pretty bang-on shape but my RF often drifts out of vertical alignment for some reason.

Still a solid machine and I expect it'll last for decades.

Nice one Trev.

May I ask what's the special number engraved at rear (L.E.I.C.A.  xxx).

Mine has "C09x" purchased new more than 30 years ago.

...

another M4-P

One black chrome with a goggled Summaron ( combo that I sold last year to a nice photographer)

Regards

Almost the same batch of M4-P 1913-1983 !

When I have bought mine in 1984, I didn't use it much but have kept it for the beauty of the chrome compared to the M4 before it.

One reason was a silver chrome M6 came one year later, that's another story.

I bought a nearly unused chrome M4-P anniversary edition in August last year together with a Summarit-M 2.4/35 and a Summarit-M 2.4/75.

Tho I have other bodies, M4-P is a bit special for me as it is my wife's birth year Leica that I got virtually mint a few years ago when we were getting married. Now it has gained a few "battle scars" and becoming truly mine. Still looooog way to go till it gets as beaten as my BP M4, but that camera came to me with patina. This one will wear (tho won't brass up) from scratch by me so that's a rather nice feeling. :)

I just got another M4-P myself, guess there was just something drawing me back to that camera. Mine will need a viewfinder cleaning but it was so inexpensive that I don't mind adding that cost.

The M4-P is just a good solid working camera :)

Grabbed this M4-P about two months ago to go along with my black one. I've been waiting to drop it off for a cla. Apparently it's sat unused for quite a while and has sticky frame lines and the typical hazy viewfinder window. Very happy to have found one in like new condition. Really wonder if it's ever had film through it.
