Hi to everybody out there!

After dropping into this new forum few days ago I've forgotten to introduce myself, sorry for this.

My name is Bernd, I'm living near Dusseldorf/Rhine I'm taking photographs since the age of 13. I'm now 58, next year I go into retirement.

35 years ago my first real slr was a Nikon F Photomic, fitted with a Nikkor 50/f2 and a Soligor 28/2,8. Today I know the expression Street Photography but at that time it was for me just like walking around and catching moments.

After a big break I started again this spring with street/people always afraid that I have lost this 'eye'.

If you like, pls. look here my old pics of a young guy which is now much older but not wiser ;-

Thanks

Bernd

Tim,

A simple translation - Mischa and Andreas are reacting to Bernd’s bragging that he’s planning to retire at 59. Andreas is hoping for retirement at 67, Mischa planned for 60, than added a few months to 61.5, but by the latest calculation it might not happen till he’s 64.

It looks like I will be following in Mischa’s footsteps……

All the best,

Jan

Hello Bernd & Dan,

A welcome to the Forum to the both of you.

Adrian has a good idea. Especially since "retirement" doesn't necessarily mean the same thing today that it did to our parents & grandparents when they were us.

For many people in our parents & grandparents day retirement meant an end to a compulsory work week & an ability to spend time doing things which day to day working had not allowed.

For some people today that will still be the case but for a growing number of others retirement is the next step in a series of careers with, perhaps, more latitude to pick & choose what comes next, coupled with some more time to do what you want. Whether what you want is going here & there or if it is relaxing & not worrying about quite so many things.

For others, because of the uncertainties of the World's currently imperfect social/economic structure: Retirement can be an uncertain road.

Just an idea or 2 for a start.

Best Regards,

Michael
