Here they are.

Once again, a big, no huge, thank you to everyone who made it to Berlin, and everyone who voted (and everyone who has helped me check the votes!). We had 22 entries and 80 voters this year, and it's a testament to Bill's original idea that the Challenge gets bigger and better every year.

Now, to the top three.*

1st - "Memory" - Andy Barton

2nd - "U2 Pankow" - Carl Bretteville

3rd - "Walking" - Bill Palmer

(Reminder Berlin One Challenge 2007)

All the technical details are here: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/berlin-challenge/38882-berlin-one-challenge-entries-details.html

Congratulations to everyone who took part. We all know how difficult going out and shooting only 36 shots in 2 hours, often in a strange city, can be.

So, the €250, the Leica jacket and the baseball cap, all go to, erm, Andy Barton.

Now, as some of you may have noticed, that's me. :o Since Ann, my wife, is a nurse who specialises in the treatment of stroke patients, I will donate the prize fund to The Stroke Association. Hard to think of a better place to put the money. So, a big thank you, on their behalf.

Now, to the more exciting bit.

LFI will be running an article on the Challenge in December / January. Great publicity for the Forum and everyone involved. :)

For anyone who is interested, the votes in spreadsheet form are here: http://www.andybarton.com/berlin.pdf

* As you can imagine, it's humbling to type this stuff when you are the organiser and the winner. Thank you. :)

Andy -- many thanks for all the work you have put in to this. (Very fine spreadsheet, btw!) And congratulations on winning!

And congratulations to Carl and Bill as well.

It was -- need one say it again? -- a most enjoyable weekend in Berlin. Great to see everyone there, and to take part in this. I look forward to seeing the piece in LFI, and to next year's challenge in Krakow.

All the best, John

A GRAND & NOBLE GESTURE.......WELL DONE ANDY.

Now to photography.

Andy,

Congratulations coming from the heart.....A GREAT IMAGE and CAPTURE, IMHO.

I would also like to add...it was difficult to decide on which images to vote for.....

....meaning " Nicely done to all taking part "

Andy well done, and very generous of you to make the donation. Thank you for all the orgainisation.

Not wanting to create any more work but is it possible to know which lens were used for the pictures submitted?

Also I look forward to seeing the pictures that participants rated as their lets say their top three after their submission. If a thread was started for this how small can the pictures be to load them and balance out smallest size thats practical for the site/thread and yet still see them. It would be great to see everyones submission at a similar size. Where could this thread be placed.

Incidentally do I remember correctly were you using a R9+DMR for trhe Challenge?

I have a shoot coming up were I need a long lense and I look forward to using this fine camera combination again.

It involves "shooting" Deer heads for a Deer Stud catalogue were the photo of the animals head clearly shows an ear tag that can be read! The deer are often 75 to 150 meters away.

Congratulations to the well deserved winners Andy, Carl and Bill and thanks to all who organised and participated. It's fascinating to see who took each shot - I got them completely wrong!

Now for next year! :)

It would be good to see "The ones that got away" thread get going.

Congratulations to the first three in particular, and to all the entrants for their splendid images. Many thanks Andy, for organising such an enjoyable event. A really good cause to which to donate the prize money. The idea of donating the prize to one's nominated charity seems to be becoming a noble tradition of the Challenge - long may it continue.
