Spending some time tonight with a Black paint Elmar 135/4.0.  According to the books it was never cataloged and perhaps only a few made to special order.  Laney mentions two with later serial numbers. I didn't get the focusing mount, so the photos show my options: for the viso II with a black 16464 and a black OSTRO/16472, mounted on a Focorapid with adaptor 14114A, and for the viso I with a chrome 14071.  I have never seen a black 14071 with dual scale and f/4 markings.  The lens is #1733530 from 1960, the first year for the new f/4 Elmar.  I think I will keep it on the Focorapid.  If anyone has a black 135 f4.0 Elmar (not tele-elmarit) it would be interesting to see it. This 57 year old lens is often stated as one of the sharpest ever, using the lanthanum glass.  Regards.
