alan mcfall Posted April 17, 2017 Share #1 Posted April 17, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Spending some time tonight with a Black paint Elmar 135/4.0. According to the books it was never cataloged and perhaps only a few made to special order. Laney mentions two with later serial numbers. I didn't get the focusing mount, so the photos show my options: for the viso II with a black 16464 and a black OSTRO/16472, mounted on a Focorapid with adaptor 14114A, and for the viso I with a chrome 14071. I have never seen a black 14071 with dual scale and f/4 markings. The lens is #1733530 from 1960, the first year for the new f/4 Elmar. I think I will keep it on the Focorapid. If anyone has a black 135 f4.0 Elmar (not tele-elmarit) it would be interesting to see it. This 57 year old lens is often stated as one of the sharpest ever, using the lanthanum glass. Regards. luigi bertolotti Posted April 17, 2017 Share #2 Posted April 17, 2017 Yup ! I think is a REAL rarity !! Lager displays #1.901.113, complete lens with bayonet Mount, and a similar item (#1.881.985) was auctioned by WestLicht time ago at 10K US$ around... I never saw one in the flesh.
