28 vs 50 lux

The pseudo leather cases they each come in are different sizes too!

More helpfully, what was the focus of your question? In picture taking terms, other than their common lens mounts and red dots, the lenses have absolutely nothing at all to do with each other.

Presumably this is a question regarding rendering since all other aspects are readily apparent ... ;)

I wouldn't recommend it. I tried rendering with a lens once, but the lens got coated in cement and the render looked horrible. I recommend a trowel instead.

Images rendered by the two lenses in question are just as different in appearance as their specifications are.

Owning both, I mean what can ya say?

Lux 50 Asph gives a very "modern" Leica look. You either love it or hate it. I'm definitely not in love with it. As someone who shoots people centered photos, I find shooting both Zeiss 50 Sonnar and Planar to be a better setup. I like the Sonnar wide open for portraits and the planar for everyday shooting.

But this is coming from someone who wants to own ever 50 I try. So take it for what it is.

Now the 28 Lux! Different story! What a lens! Bokeh is better than the 35 and 50 lux and the lens renders with a great 3D separation of subject on background. Definitely a magical look. Well worth the $$.

How do you know?

That one's better, simply. The other one's good, too, but the je ne sais quoi is missing. That little something, that somekind of edge is definitely more present on this lens versus that lens.

And the ooomph! It simply reeks if you know what to look after. But not quite on the other lens. That's why I much prefer this one over the other.

I also want a 35 noctilux. And a super quirky 28 5.6. Just like the new summaron but with extra severe falloff. And black paint.

Or simply a black paint summaron. I feel that one's coming and You bet I'll be all over it. Or them.

You're dreaming. They're both quite good, none is better than the other.
