earleygallery Posted April 18, 2017 Share #3 Posted April 18, 2017 I'm thinking of buying a Jupiter 8 50mm for my Leica M. Has anyone tried this? any sample pics? Thank you guys. The new one or an older one? Some people have had focussing issues with the original lenses as the calibration on the Russian cameras can be slightly different and there can also be a lot of 'sample variation'. The new Lomo Jupiter is said to be fine on Leica's. However a good Jupiter is a nice lens and for the price they go for, worth a try.

Use good old Google to find - the internet is full of these pictures. But forgive me this stupid question: Why using a cheap soviet chunk glas with a great camera like the Leica ? stephengv Posted April 18, 2017 Author Share #5 Posted April 18, 2017 Thank you. I'm planning to get the old one. The new one is a bit expensive.
stephengv Posted April 18, 2017 Author Share #6 Posted April 18, 2017 (edited) Use good old Google to find - the internet is full of these pictures. But forgive me this stupid question: Why using a cheap soviet chunk glas with a great camera like the Leica ? I already saw some sample images, but not specific to a Leica M typ 240. The lens seems to add some character, which definitely not better than a Leica lens, but different. Just want to try something different. Not a replacement or a main lens. david strachan Posted May 12, 2017 Share #9 Posted May 12, 2017 I think the Jupiters can be dated by the first two numbers on the lens manufacture number.
