Wayne Posted March 23, 2017 Share #1 Posted March 23, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) So my VIDOM has always fit very loosely in the shoe of my IIIA- my favorite and most used camera; to the point that, whenever I used it, I had to be extremely careful to make sure it did not fall off. Well, yesterday the inevitable occurred and the VIDOM tumbled off of the camera and fell to the brickwork road. I discovered, upon picking it up, examining it, and reinstalling it on camera, that the only perceptible damage was to the VIDOM foot: it was bent in such a manner that it now fits, securly, on the camera.
Advertisement Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 Hi Wayne, Take a look here Favor from Above, directed to Barnack stalwart?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Michael Geschlecht Posted March 23, 2017 Share #2 Posted March 23, 2017 Hello Wayne, It is good that there was no significant damage. If you find yourself in an equivalent situation in the future you might try putting pieces of very thin removable tape on the underside of the finder foot or feet, as the case might be. Something like "Scotch Magic" or generic "masking". Or possibly an equally removable tape that is thinner or thicker. This way the finder can fit snugly & if you decide to use the finder with another camera at another time, the tape will be easily removable. Wayne Posted March 24, 2017 Author Share #3 Posted March 24, 2017 Thanks for the suggestion. Initially, I tried something similar to what you suggest. I found there was nothing durable enough to be used with any reliability. As I own 28, 35, and 21 VFs, I use the VIDOM only infrequently, with Mountain Elmar, so it was something that did not receive too much effort or consideration. Michael Geschlecht Posted March 24, 2017 Share #4 Posted March 24, 2017 Hello Wayne, If you find that the, ie: Masking Tape, is not that durable between the BOTTOM of the foot & the shoe: Then, you might try putting the tape on the TOP of the foot, between the foot and the shoe, on 1 side or the other. It is also important, whether the tape is on the top or on the bottom of the foot, that the tape DOES NOT fit too tightly. Wayne Posted March 25, 2017 Author Share #6 Posted March 25, 2017 Thanks, Luigi. Yes, it is a classy, and great, lens. In fact, we should establish "Mountain Elmar Day," requiring all owners of this great lens to go out and take a photograph with it.

Wayne Posted March 31, 2017 Author Share #9 Posted March 31, 2017 Before I bought my Mountain Elmar I was surprised by how few photos taken with the lens were posted to the www. I am on a crusade to at least double the number.
