Distance was between 1.5 and 2 metres best I recall, no macro 80% crop. Butterfly came out better than expected. Achieved a nice bokeh too. Lovely lens, comfortable to handle.
 Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! tobey bilek Posted March 27, 2017 Share #22 Posted March 27, 2017 I bought two metal hood for my 75, one around 3/4 " long, the other 1.5". the deeper one works on M8, not on the M9 until it is stopped down to 2.8 or 4, so I use the shorter one. I leave the uv/ir on all the time. Wish I could give more info, but both are temporarily lost. They came from B&Hand around $25 @.
Richardgb Posted March 28, 2017 Share #23 Posted March 28, 2017 I've had a 75mm Apo-Summicron for 6 years... Pros: Outstanding resolution Cons: Prone to flare when backlit or side-lit (lens hood does little to help the latter) Difficult to focus accurately and quickly (you can have one or the other, but not both; yes, I have tried the 1.4x viewfinder magnifier). I would suggest that the high image sharpness shows even more clearly when focusing is off. Heavy (for an M lens) I bought the 75mm to be a companion to the 28mm Summicron when travelling; yes, it was occasionally useful but I found the 28mm took the vast majority of the shots. A few years later I acquired a 50mm (Summicron) lens, since when I have used the 75mm less and less.
