Shutter release button not smooth anymore

Hi guys,

After happily using my MD 262 for 3 months now, and some normal but intense use, the shutter seems sticky and not smooth anymore (lacking clarity the two normal stages of fire -meter then fire-).

Im assuming this is just because of dust at it appears to go and return randomly. Also the little button for exposure behaves like this.

Has anyone gone through this problem? Any idea how to clean it to avoid the camera being serviced? I dont want to be without the camera! I use it everyday and carry it everywhere!

You can check some images on my instagram if interested at @syrjames

Thanks for your help,

Jaime

I went through this. What I did, which I've no idea if it is wise, is to moisten a cotton swab with rubbing alcohol and gently wipe around the outside of depressable part of the button. Then work the button up and down. That fixed mine. I was careful not to saturate the swab, just moisten it.

Sorry for the late reply,

Problem seems to be just normal dirtiness or dust... as it has somehow gone smoother with some use in my last trip (although it was to the dusty Saudi Arabia haha). Now Im back home in Barcelona and will use the cotton+alcohol technique to fix it completely. Will keep you posted on the result.

Anyways, was helpful to have your help and advice during the trip... It help me not to panic and have more patience ;)

Cheers!

Jaime
