Syrjames Posted March 14, 2017 Share #1 Posted March 14, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi guys, After happily using my MD 262 for 3 months now, and some normal but intense use, the shutter seems sticky and not smooth anymore (lacking clarity the two normal stages of fire -meter then fire-). Im assuming this is just because of dust at it appears to go and return randomly. Also the little button for exposure behaves like this. Has anyone gone through this problem? Any idea how to clean it to avoid the camera being serviced? I dont want to be without the camera! I use it everyday and carry it everywhere! You can check some images on my instagram if interested at @syrjames Thanks for your help, Jaime

FeralCoton Posted March 14, 2017 Share #2 Posted March 14, 2017 I went through this. What I did, which I've no idea if it is wise, is to moisten a cotton swab with rubbing alcohol and gently wipe around the outside of depressable part of the button. Then work the button up and down. That fixed mine. I was careful not to saturate the swab, just moisten it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
cirke Posted March 14, 2017 Share #3 Posted March 14, 2017 is it the same problem described here ? http://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/269851-m240-shutter-replacement-price/
FeralCoton Posted March 15, 2017 Share #4 Posted March 15, 2017 Mine wasn't the same issue. It wasn't a shutter issue, but rather that the shutter button wasn't smooth like it was. I imagine something got seeped in the edge or soemething. Hence the alcohol on a swab Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Syrjames Posted March 16, 2017 Author Share #5 Posted March 16, 2017 Sorry for the late reply, Problem seems to be just normal dirtiness or dust... as it has somehow gone smoother with some use in my last trip (although it was to the dusty Saudi Arabia haha). Now Im back home in Barcelona and will use the cotton+alcohol technique to fix it completely. Will keep you posted on the result. Anyways, was helpful to have your help and advice during the trip... It help me not to panic and have more patience Cheers! Jaime
FeralCoton Posted March 17, 2017 Share #6 Posted March 17, 2017 Good to hear it got better. Hoe it works out without a repair trip. I had to cancel my longed for trip to Barcelona last year because of medical issues. Hope to reschedule.
