kwphoto Posted March 12, 2017 Share #1 Posted March 12, 2017 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello All, today I was lucky enough to buy a fully functioning Leica R3 for $50 at my local antique store. Anyways, I don't have any R-Mount lenses and was wondering if there was an adapter for my Leica M lenses that will allow me to use them on my R3. Advertisement Posted March 12, 2017 Posted March 12, 2017 Hi kwphoto, Take a look here Any Adapters for Leica M Lenses for the R Mount?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
earleygallery Posted March 12, 2017 Share #2 Posted March 12, 2017 No, the mount to film plane distance on the R is much great that on an M. You will need a 3 cam or 'R only' Leica R lens for it.
masjah Posted March 12, 2017 Share #3 Posted March 12, 2017 Such an adapter does exist, but the M lens will only provide close focus on an R camera, for the reason James states. BTW You can also use ROM lenses on an R3.

masjah Posted March 13, 2017 Share #5 Posted March 13, 2017 Where could I buy this adapter? I'd rather you double-checked that this is indeed the correct one (or another Forum member confirm this), but I think it's code 14127 M to R adapter, and, if so, I think that the well known Scottish dealer ff***s have got one for £69. I have a 14167 with R nul cam that I'm not using.
TomB_tx Posted March 13, 2017 Share #7 Posted March 13, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Aren't these adapters intended for the use of Visoflex lenses, that will still focus to infinity with the adapter on an R?
luigi bertolotti Posted March 13, 2017 Share #8 Posted March 13, 2017 (edited) Aren't these adapters intended for the use of Visoflex lenses, that will still focus to infinity with the adapter on an R?Yes, but is for usage with lenses made for Visoflex II/III only, to say, with a normal M bayonet, so you can use it with any M lens, with the focusing limitations above explained (I'd be curios to verify if one can retract partially an Elmar 50 so that it can focus to infinity... , paying attention to interference with mirror, in case... I suppose it is not possible) Me too have a similar adapter (a 14127, indeed) that found on my Telyt 400 f 6,8 for Visoflex... having no R body, I can give it at delivery cost to anyone is interested. masjah Posted March 13, 2017 Share #9 Posted March 13, 2017 There you go Kevin, it's a 14167 that you want, not a 14127 as I mistakenly thought, and Doug has got one he's not using!
