Lenses serial curiosities - 3

And now the end of my review of Leica reflex lenses : not much to say.

1 - My Elmarit-R 1:2.8/90 was nº2011972, code 11229 (single cam first version), and is listed as produced in 1963, but Laney says it appeared only in 1964.

2 - I had three Angenieux Zoom f2.8/45-90mm : nº1237933, 1257184 and 1307601. Since all these serials date 1955 in Leitz lists, and the Angenieux Zoom was only offered as from 1969, they clearly are Angenieux ones, not Leitz. I do not remember having seen this peculiarity quoted anywhere.

3 - One of my Vario-Elmar-R 1:3.5/35-70 had serial nº3241992, listed as dating 1982, but Laney says the lens appeared only in 1983.

All other lenses I had do not offer special "serial" interest, but I will illustrate some of them just for the pleasure...and as a personal retribution to the time I spent going through my photographic archives.

First photo : the Elmarit-R 1:2.8/180 nº2455686, first version (code 11919) from 1970.

This Angenieux Zoom f2.8/45-90mm numbered 1237933 was purchased in 1969, the first year of availability, despite the serial that - if it were Leitz - reascends to 1955.

The Vario-Elmar-R 1:3.5/35-70 nº3241992, code 11244, is normally from 1982.

My Vario-Elmar-R 1:4.5/75-200 nº3005275 is second version code 11226.

I also had an MR-Telyt-R 1:8/500mm nº3067527, code 11243, from the first production run (1980), here mounted on a Leica R4 Mot.

At one time, I added the Televit-R device to my collection : Televit body 14136 + diaphragm unit 14137 + shoulder stock/universal handgrip 14188, with Telyt-R 1:5.6/400 nº2307992 and 560 nº2261905 heads (codes 11866 and 11867)

But my favorite "very long focus" - as a user - remained for long time the Telyt-R 1:6.8/400mm code 11960 (11906 + 14188), here nº2435403 of 1970.

And why not to conclude with two R accessories I regularly used : the lens adapter R-on-M 22228 and the Extender-R 2x nº3119601, code 11236.
