earleygallery Posted March 23, 2017 Share #21 Posted March 23, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Yes, I'm sure there was – reel to reel is high quality. I doubt though that anyone there was trying to fit a reel to reel tape into a cassette just so that they could play it in one of these. Not that I remember, LOL. I never liked cassette tapes, the sound always became distorted after a while. I'd only use them to record music to play in the car.

I'd only use them to record music to play in the car. I somehow managed to own a very early one when I was about 16, and I used to stick the microphone in front of the radio to record the latest hits. It was the wonder and envy of my friends: to be able to keep replaying a just-about audible version of our favourite song of the week ( sometimes with the sound of mum on the phone in the background, I remember) without having to find 6/8d between us for a single was pure joy.
