Advertisement Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 Hi pico, Take a look here It must be known 64gb cards do not work. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
antigallican Posted March 3, 2017 Share #2 Posted March 3, 2017 Easily mistaken. Still, on the bright side, 16s are cheap and you can get an awful lot of Leica M9 files on them!

antigallican Posted March 3, 2017 Share #4 Posted March 3, 2017 And until this 64gb experiment, 16 is all I use. Do any digital Leica's accept 64gb? I can't say. My M9 uses 32s, but I just discovered that because I had some 32s. Actually I use 64 (both CF and SD) in a Nikon D810, but the 18 megapixel M9 doesn't fill cards up to quickly the way I use it. Now the Nikon D810 on the other hand...

I'm not smart enough to know why Leica has a limit to less than 64mb. I can live their with their decision, but I'm a curious person. What in their hardware and firmware requires such a limit? Word size? Concerns about card failure? Just plain good sense? OTOH, along with several contributors here I agree that several small SDcards is more rational than one big one that can wipe out month's work. pop Posted March 3, 2017 Share #6 Posted March 3, 2017 I'm not smart enough to know why Leica has a limit to less than 64mb. .... The Wikipedia says this about SDXC cards: On March 6, 2009, Pretec introduced the first SDXC card,[60] a 32 GB card with a read/write speed of 400 Mbit/s. But only early in 2010 did compatible host devices come onto the market The M9 was launched 2009/09. I don't think there was enough time for Leica to implement the new format.
harmen Posted March 4, 2017 Share #7 Posted March 4, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Do any digital Leica's accept 64gb? M (240) works well with 64. Sandisk 95MB/s is often mentioned as the one it does best with, but I never tried any other card.
ohsmen Posted March 4, 2017 Share #8 Posted March 4, 2017 Leica M9, firmware 1.210 SanDisk Extreme Pro 64GB is not recognized. Silly me for buying it. Do not do the same You are not alone! I bought 64G and then bought another 32G.......It seems M9 cannot support SDXC (only SD and SDHC are supported).
fotoism Posted March 6, 2017 Share #9 Posted March 6, 2017 Do any digital Leica's accept 64gb? My M8 had no problems with 64GB SDXC cards.
StenSture Posted March 20, 2017 Share #10 Posted March 20, 2017 Thanks! Two 32's instead of one 64, then.

pop Posted December 22, 2017 Share #13 Posted December 22, 2017 The technical data sheet has this to say on the topic: Storage medium SD cards up to 2 GB/SDHC cards up to 32 GB. So: yes, it is known that 64GB cards will not work.

01af Posted December 22, 2017 Share #15 Posted December 22, 2017 Leica M9, firmware 1.210 SanDisk Extreme Pro 64GB is not recognized. Silly me for buying it. Do not do the same Yes. The Leica M8 and M9 will take SD and SDHC cards only, so 32 GB is the maximum they can handle. Leica M (Typ 240), M10, TL, SL, and Q will happily accept SD, SDHC, and SDXC cards, so 64 GB (and more) is no problem in these models.
