Anyone on here using the singh ray variable nd filter. I have one but worry about using it in anger

I'm heading back to Phuket tomorrow and taking my S007 with me and thought about trying it out

Any feedback would be much appreciated

I use the Kenko Variable NDX 82mm filter, which I have found to be the best of the variable filters.

The Kenko has the least color shift to my knowledge.

Just use it and try it out.

i will do. I'm actually looking forward to going out and shooting with my S again after spending the last few months playing with medium and large format

Never used the singh-ray variable ND, but I use a Heliopan variable 6-stop ND filter on the S.

Variable NDs offer the flexibility of carrying one physical filter that offers several degree of density. However, be aware that variable ND are more prone to glare than regular "single" filters since a variable ND is built with 2 filters combined with space in between and light might bounce off in between the two elements. I'd suggest avoiding variable ND when you have lateral sunlight hitting the filter.

I usually use mine during blue hour, no problems whatsoever.

I don't use it to shoot wide open during day time a 2 stop filter is better suited for this.

70mm 12 seconds F2,8 with the Variable filter
