jip Posted February 27, 2017 Share #2 Posted February 27, 2017 (edited) I use the Kenko Variable NDX 82mm filter, which I have found to be the best of the variable filters. The Kenko has the least color shift to my knowledge. Just use it and try it out. Edited February 27, 2017 by jip

LorenzoLandini Posted February 27, 2017 Share #4 Posted February 27, 2017 Never used the singh-ray variable ND, but I use a Heliopan variable 6-stop ND filter on the S. Variable NDs offer the flexibility of carrying one physical filter that offers several degree of density. However, be aware that variable ND are more prone to glare than regular "single" filters since a variable ND is built with 2 filters combined with space in between and light might bounce off in between the two elements. I'd suggest avoiding variable ND when you have lateral sunlight hitting the filter.
albertknappmd Posted February 28, 2017 Share #5 Posted February 28, 2017 I agree with Lorenzo. A single filter is more prudent. Albert
jip Posted March 2, 2017 Share #6 Posted March 2, 2017 I usually use mine during blue hour, no problems whatsoever. I don't use it to shoot wide open during day time a 2 stop filter is better suited for this. 70mm 12 seconds F2,8 with the Variable filter
