Robert E Posted February 23, 2017 Share #1 Posted February 23, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi Guys, Has anyone tried the newly released Handevision IBERIT series of lenses on your M camera? Just looking for some input on what looks to be a valuable alternative. Thanks. Robert E

Robert E Posted February 24, 2017 Author Share #4 Posted February 24, 2017 I checked his website and there really wasn't much there, just a few photos done by someone else. Since Steve is heavily into the paranormal, I take what he says with more than a grain of salt, similar to Ken Rockwell. I was hoping to find some real world experience from the good folks on this forum.

jim0266 Posted February 24, 2017 Share #6 Posted February 24, 2017 Strange but true tale of my experience with the 35/2.8 Handevision... I was curious like the OP too and saw a post where Handevision was looking for people to test their lens. I received a response from their president. Handevision sent me their 35 2/8 to test in exchange for a review, saying it was mine to keep as a gift. It was pretty good on my 262 but suffered from focus shift. That was disappointing. As a landscape lens it was very good with excellent corner sharpness, perhaps better than my Zeiss C-Biogon. But... I went to mount the lens on my M6 and it would not mount. What? I tried my oldest M2 and it mounted fine. What? I tried another M2 (late 1966 model) and it would not mount on that M2. What? Looking closely, I noticed the mount flange is wider than normal M lenses. On the M262 the lens mount is not flat to the body like on a film M. It's raised a few millimeters allowing the lens to clear the collar surrounding the lens release button. On my old M2, the lens release button has a divot on the right side of the button. it's just enough to allow the lens to clear. Later M2's have fully round lens release buttons which this lens hits and will not seat. On the M6 the lens hits the collar around the lens release. I wrote them back saying I could not write a positive review and relay what I had found about the lens. I offered to send them the lens back for testing as the lens was also a bit sticky to focus. I never heard back. On a whim I removed the mount flange. Why not? I accidentally disengaged the part that engages the rangefinder roller arm on an M and removed several shims under the flange. The lens was super smooth to focus after that! I had just picked up a Sony A7 to use with my Leica BEOON to scan film. I popped the lens on the A7. Surprisingly, it's a very good lens on the A7. Better than my 35 C-Biogon and 35 VC Color-Skopar. It's now become a go-to lens when I take the A7.
terrycym Posted February 24, 2017 Share #7 Posted February 24, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) I was put off by the price. Prices are comparable to Leica prices and I would rather buy Leica. That's why I bought the M in the 1st place

tuck.kenney Posted March 21, 2017 Share #14 Posted March 21, 2017 I think Stevehuff site had one article recently, I think he wrote a review on the Handevision telephoto lens (85mm?) and he concluded that it's not worth the price.
