Would Summilux 35mm pre-asph fit M10?

Hi all,

I've got a Summilux 35mm pre-asph (Canada) which is my day to day lens. I'm currently shooting an M6 and seriously considering an M10. Will this lens work with M10 as I heard there's a problem with this lens' shroud and the M9.

Many thanks and I appreciate your input.

If your 35 Summilux mounts on your M6, it will also mount on the M10, unless there is some kind of damage or owner "modification" (AKA butchery) to the lens mount.

When you talk about the lens "shroud," I am guessing that you are referring to the lens hood.  If so, the lens hood on your 35 'lux may intrude on the lower right corner of your framelines when looking through the camera's viewfinder.  This is something that doesn't bother many M camera users but causes others to want to pull their hair out.

Viewfinder blockage by the lens hood will not affect the functioning of the lens in any way.

Hope this helps...

M10 manual suggests that lens may need modification by Leica – certain Canadian made lenses or in a certain time frame. Richard Caplan (London) has a mint condition boxed sample, but without an M10 to take to the shop :( , too risky to think of purchase!

Seen this some days ago how and what to modify Summilux 35mm :

Will report if I get a chance to test one! Thanks all!
