Ivar B Posted February 17, 2017 Share #1 Posted February 17, 2017 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Has anyone tested out to see if the Sigma Art lenses are compatible with the SL in Canon mount? I didn`t think the day would ever come that I would be considering using a Sigma lens on a Leica body, but one can`t remain unaffected by the fact that several reputable testing agencies claim that the 85mm is the best lens they have ever tested in this focal length range (including the Zeiss Otus 85mm): https://www.dxomark.com/Reviews/Sigma-85mm-F1.4-Art-lens-review-New-benchmark It doesn`t hurt either that it costs about a third of the competition. Advertisement Posted February 17, 2017 Posted February 17, 2017 Hi Ivar B, Take a look here Sigma Art on SL. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
tom0511 Posted February 17, 2017 Share #2 Posted February 17, 2017 I would probably rather use it on a Canon or Nikon and benefit of better AF than adapted on the SL.
Ivar B Posted February 17, 2017 Author Share #3 Posted February 17, 2017 I would probably rather use it on a Canon or Nikon and benefit of better AF than adapted on the SL. I have no problems at all with manual focus lenses on the SL.

AlexP Posted February 17, 2017 Share #5 Posted February 17, 2017 i own and use the following Sigma Art lens with the novoflex adapter (Canon to SL). Here are the result for Sigma Art lens when pair up with SL: 20 ART: super fast AF. almost the same as if you're using with DSLR. I'm surprised. 35 ART: AF not working at all 50 ART: AF not working at all 24-35 ART: Ok AF 18-35 ART: Fast AF 50-100 ART: Fast AF. However, sometime the camera stop communicate with the lens. I have to turn off the camera, turn back on then AF works fast again. 85ART will comes in next week. I'll post the result once i test it out.
FlashGordonPhotography Posted February 18, 2017 Share #6 Posted February 18, 2017 (edited) Sigma Art 12-24mm f4 does NOT work at all on the SL. Aperture is stoped down and locked to f22. AF is (obviously at f22) erratic. edit: OK I take that back. It's now working fine. Hmmmm. All I did was reload the default profile and then my own profile and it' seems to be working just fine. I'll have to do some investigating to see if it was just a glitch or some setting I had that screws things up. steppenw0lf Posted February 20, 2017 Share #8 Posted February 20, 2017 (edited) Sorry, I just found the entry for the Art 24-35. A VERY interesting lens. (being FF) But how is IQ ? Is the aperture 2.0 really usable ? Is it really on par with a high-class prime ? (It is affordable and not too big, so is IQ really that excellent ?) Happy to find a link to some good examples. (Had a look at the examples in Flickr, but found them not extraordinary ...) The 50-100 is probably only APS-C. Or is there also a FF lens ? Again would like to see results/images. steppenw0lf Posted February 28, 2017 Share #9 Posted February 28, 2017 AlexP, could you say a bit more about your testing the Sigma Art 2.0/24-35 ? You said: OK AF Any more details ?
AlexP Posted March 1, 2017 Share #10 Posted March 1, 2017 AlexP, could you say a bit more about your testing the Sigma Art 2.0/24-35 ? You said: OK AF Any more details ? The AF is not super snappy. It just average speed. All the f stop is usable. However, if you expect a fast, snappy out of this lens, you'll be disappoint. 50-100 is APS-C. There is no FF on this range.

Ivar B Posted March 1, 2017 Author Share #12 Posted March 1, 2017 Have got your art? please share the thoughts. thank you Not yet - in the mail from the supplier. Heavier demand than anticipated I guess. Interesting that Zeiss massively dropped their prices on similar lenses after Sigma launched ART.
