Jean-Michel Posted February 13, 2017 Share #3 Posted February 13, 2017 Fotodiox is one adapter. However, while you can mount the lens none of the electronic functions will work. Unless there is an external aperture ring you will not be able to change the aperture. Probably a dead-end road here. Jean-Michel
Daniel Beacock Posted February 13, 2017 Share #4 Posted February 13, 2017 Canon EF L lenses won't work, but Canon FD L work great! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Jean-Michel Posted February 14, 2017 Share #5 Posted February 14, 2017 Canon EF L lenses won't work, but Canon FD L work great! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk That is correct. I was given a Canon A-1 and some FD lenses for my 'old cameras' display. Got an MP, EVF, Fotodiox adapter and now can use those lenses if I want. I've been using the 70-210 zoom lens with good results. I checked and it looks like these lenses cane had foe very, very little cash, the adapter costs more!
thedirektor Posted February 21, 2017 Share #6 Posted February 21, 2017 Canon EF L lenses won't work, but Canon FD L work great! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Daniel, may I ask you a couple of questions ? Which FD to M adaptor do you use ? When you put the FD lens on does the right frame line appear ? And I imagine that the rangefinder focus and aperture recognition works fine ? Many thanks. I have a beautiful 100mm FD F2 that I haven't used for 20 years. I now have a M262 so might give it a whirl inspired by your experience.
Daniel Beacock Posted February 21, 2017 Share #7 Posted February 21, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Having tried a couple of cheap adapters from eBay with no luck, I only use Novoflex. Slightly more expensive, but much better quality. Sadly Canon FD lenses are not rangefinder coupled, so in order to use them you will need a camera with live view, so they won't work on your M262. You will not use OVF for your FD lens since you need TTL viewing. You will have to use either LV on LCD or EVF (preferable) in order to be able to focus and frame. It certainly will work and picture quality will be what you expect from your lens, however manual focusing using EVF is different (challenging) experience compared to DSLR's optical viewing.

Yep, all true and correct in principle....... but still certainly will not work on the M262....[emoji6] Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

hockey44 Posted August 18, 2017 Share #11 Posted August 18, 2017 I am puzzled why Canon FE lenses won't work on M240. I have lots of L primes from my 5d2 including 82 1.2 II? Fotodiox says it works with EF but never tried anything but Leica glass on my M (and very happy) but was exploring if way to use the beast of a lens, that 85 1.2. Thanks

Thanks Because the apertures on L lenses are electronically controlled. All Leica M adapters are just a dumb tube, so you will have to manually set the aperture on your Canon body in advance: FD (full manual) lenses work beautifully.
