Jeffry Abt Posted February 10, 2017 Share #1 Posted February 10, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) I think that this will be a fun camera for Friends and Family. And it might even be useful in making friends while doing street work with my M. Now I realize this camera was made to merely to produce “Snaps” and not high quality images. Nevertheless! I would like to understand the cameras workings so as to get the best possible images. These are my assumptions? ISO fixed at 800 Aperture fixed f/12.7 Shutter Speed is variable @ 1/8-1/400 Sec Question: Does flash vary its output according to conditions or does it always fire at a constant intensity? Is the only variable in exposure, the shutter speed? My guess??? …seeing that it has a flash exposure measuring cell, the flash varies its output. Question: When you set the camera mode to “Sport” what is the camera doing? Normally, I would think that it would mean that the camera is fixing the shutter speed as fast as possible. But since the iso is fixed and the aperture is fixed the only variable left to the camera to get an accurate exposure is the shutter speed. Thus, it is theoretically fixed as well. So... what is left when one picks a “Scene” mode? Is the camera just adjusting the focus distances modes? I suppose some of you maybe thinking, “He is over analyzing this camera. Just take snaps and get on with it.” My questions anyway. Welcome, dear visitor! Advertisement Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Hi Jeffry Abt, Take a look here Sofort? I suppose the Sofort is a film camera. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
mikemgb Posted February 10, 2017 Share #2 Posted February 10, 2017 I haven't used any of the scene modes on mine yet, now you have me intrigued and I'm going to play with them to see what I can do. The biggest problem I have with the Sofort is remembering to change the focus range when shooting a landscape or distant object!
Jeffry Abt Posted February 10, 2017 Author Share #3 Posted February 10, 2017 I have used several boxes of film just messing about with the camera. ...haven't made much progress on figuring things out.
mikemgb Posted February 10, 2017 Share #4 Posted February 10, 2017 I don't think there is much figuring out to do, the biggest problem seems to be inconsistency with the film packs themselves, you don't get the same result picture to picture. Jeffry Abt Posted February 10, 2017 Author Share #5 Posted February 10, 2017 (edited) I've been using the FujiFilm packs ...I have been getting varied results. And the flash seems to blow peoples faces out, if you are close at all... thus my question about flash output. etc. Edited February 10, 2017 by Jeffry Abt
mikemgb Posted February 10, 2017 Share #6 Posted February 10, 2017 And of you're more than 8 feet away the flash doesn't reach. According to the instructions the flash does vary according to need.
