Advertisement Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Hi Paulus, Take a look here Leica M 240 gone within a year?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Peter Kilmister Posted February 10, 2017 Share #2 Posted February 10, 2017 I believe it is a promotion to sell off lens and body combinations. Rather appealing if someone wants the camera but doesn't have any lenses. The whole idea was advertised on Leica's website.
Paulus Posted February 10, 2017 Author Share #3 Posted February 10, 2017 I understand, but it happens to happen every time a camera gets out of production, if I look into the past.
LeicaFFM Posted February 10, 2017 Share #4 Posted February 10, 2017 They had similar promotions this past summer. Nothing special...

epand56 Posted February 11, 2017 Share #7 Posted February 11, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Dear folks, what you have in your hands is not only a camera, is a computer. Have you aver seen a Macintosh model, Pro, or MacBook or whatever, still in production after the new model has been issued? Or an iPhone or a Samsung? This is the limit of this fab camera, if you want to see the limit. I do not see it and will stick with my M240 for a long time, at least since the M12 will be available in shop. If that one will be a real change and if I'll have the money, I'll think about buying one. Not before. There is nothing wrong with my M240 that push me to buy an M10, not even 3 mm less thickness. It takes the same great pictures as the M10 and this is why I bought it three years ago.
jmahto Posted February 11, 2017 Share #8 Posted February 11, 2017 My M240 just stopped working and LCD displays "Check camera age". Anybody else got that? Reminds me of the notification for old battery. .... Nah
bocaburger Posted February 12, 2017 Share #9 Posted February 12, 2017 In terms of most parts, and batteries, the coundown-to-armageddon clock won't start ticking on the M240 until all its derivatives have been replaced by M10-based counterparts. So it really doesn't matter to me if the M240 is officially discontinued. My original 2004 EOS 5D's are still working and making images as good as the day they were new. My desktop is a Win-XP2, just put a used motherboard in it for $100. Just put a new battery in my iPhone5. Nobody's got a gun to my head forcing me to accept the upgrade-path paradigm. colonel Posted February 13, 2017 Share #10 Posted February 13, 2017 The M240 is still officially a current camera Rumours or deals, which are regular for most cameras, are irrelevant At some point in the future it will be either replaced by an upgraded 24x or discontinued without a replacement Many of us hope for the former
drdannn Posted February 14, 2017 Share #11 Posted February 14, 2017 Prediction: one day the M11 will come to market and the M10 will be discounted and discontinued. any takers So I should be able to buy an m10 cheap now, right?
bherman01545 Posted February 15, 2017 Share #12 Posted February 15, 2017 Look at it as an opportunity to buy. You can pick up a mint and barely used M240 for $3500-$3700 complete in the box. I think that it is a great camera and a fabulous deal. -Brad
