Keith (M) Posted February 9, 2017 Share #3 Posted February 9, 2017 Ha - it recommended Fomapan 400 for me too (normal rating). Maybe they have shares...
Bobitybob Posted February 9, 2017 Author Share #4 Posted February 9, 2017 Don't know about that, but when I tried it recommended T-Max400. I have some in the freezer but have never tried it so guess what's next for me.

adan Posted February 10, 2017 Share #9 Posted February 10, 2017 (edited) Close, but no cigar - hooked me up with Tri-X, but I actually prefer TMax 400. Edit - in color, matches me with Fuji 400H. And fortunately all my film use is in 120 size. I may have to do my own shoot-out of that and Portra 400. 250swb Posted February 10, 2017 Share #10 Posted February 10, 2017 50/50, the B&W survey said Delta 100, of which I have a fridge full (other than a ready meal and bottle of milk), and for colour Agfa 400 which I've never ever considered, so perhaps I should give it a go? wlaidlaw Posted February 10, 2017 Share #11 Posted February 10, 2017 (edited) I have used both Fomapan 200 and 400. I really like the 200 but thought the 400 had rather coarse and ugly grain and was not nearly as nice as either HP5 or Delta 400. On film dating, I have just bought a cassette of ex-US Army 70mm Ektachrome 64 dated "process by 08/1987", that has been freezer stored. I really bought it to get a spare 50 photo 4.5 metre x 70mm cassette for my Graflex Combat Graphic but I will use the film and get it processed just out of interest. Michael Hiles Posted February 11, 2017 Share #13 Posted February 11, 2017 I was told to go with HP5 (or Delta 400). In fact I use XP2 almost exclusively, with some possibility to try a Spur developer with Delta 400 and 100.

honcho Posted February 11, 2017 Share #15 Posted February 11, 2017 T- Max 100 is a match for me, apparently. Not a bad outcome since 20 rolls were delivered a few days ago. Adox Silvermax and Fuji Acros are my usual 35mm 100iso choices.
Martin B Posted February 15, 2017 Share #16 Posted February 15, 2017 (edited) T- Max 100 is a match for me, apparently. Not a bad outcome since 20 rolls were delivered a few days ago. Adox Silvermax and Fuji Acros are my usual 35mm 100iso choices. Same for me, and it is one of my favorite films. Just received pack of 4x5" format TMax 100 film to test it with my newly acquired Swiss Alpina 4x5" camera. Only slightly annoying thing with TMax films is the need for more washing to get rid of the purple dye cast. The test also revealed my favorite film for color - Ektar 100. Seems like I already found my dates Edited February 15, 2017 by Martin B
philipus Posted February 24, 2017 Share #17 Posted February 24, 2017 (edited) An interesting test I thought. Thanks for posting, Bob. I got Ektar 100 or, as an alternative, Velvia 100. Velvia 100 is probably over 50% of what I shoot. But I have only shot two rolls of Ektar, the second one last week. So I'm not sure about the integriety of the results. And for b&w I got Tri-X at EI1600. Would have been interesting to add a second dimension to the b&w test in the shape of developers. wlaidlaw Posted February 24, 2017 Share #18 Posted February 24, 2017 I prefer Provia to Velvia as I find it scans better.
