elitefunker Posted January 25, 2017 Share #1 Posted January 25, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, unfortunately I found on my new 262, that TTL doest not work fine... Testet with sf 40 and sf 64. In the middle of the power-range it works fine, but on low power and on high power it does not. It means, if I need full power of the flash to get accurate exposure (e.g. set everything in M-Mode and then switch to TTL-Mode), the flash does not flash. --> It should flash with highest power. If more power than max. would be necessary, it should flash with max. power, but it doesn't. Same on the lower edge: If the picture is overexposed with flash, it flashes anyway - but it should not... Every other TTL-System (e.g. Nikon) does it correct and even in Leica description it is written correct.. Do you have same problems?? Advertisement Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 Hi elitefunker, Take a look here TTL Problem with 262 / 240. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Gregm61 Posted January 27, 2017 Share #2 Posted January 27, 2017 (edited) Flash is definitely not the reason behind me having bought the M262. I picked up an SF40 flash for the occasional time I might need a little pop of light and don't find it to be all that great a unit. By far it's the worst expenditure of money on my M outfit. If I need to utilize flash I either use my Olympus E-M1 outfit, or, the Olympus FL600R flash in non-TTL auto works great on my M262 and M9. jto555 Posted January 27, 2017 Share #3 Posted January 27, 2017 I use flash a lot with the 240, and yes Leica's version of TTL will let you down. My work-around for both on and off camera flash is to shoot the flash on manual. You can get much more consistent exposers as the flash is not been confused by light or dark subjects in the frame. tpf1952 Posted January 29, 2017 Share #4 Posted January 29, 2017 Indeed, manual flash is the only way I can get consistent results with my M 240. But trial and error makes you a better photographer.
jchfriis Posted February 11, 2017 Share #5 Posted February 11, 2017 After hearing that the Leica TTL is not the best I got myself a Nikon SB-22 for 39 euros. It's an old fashioned thyristor flash from the late 80's with a guide number of 100/25m. It's built like a brick and sets the shutter speed and shows flash ready on both my M8 and M 240. Best 39 euros I've ever spent.
