asap Posted January 21, 2017 Share #1 Posted January 21, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Always wanted a film camera, and am happy I found one, it's been one my to-buy list for quite a while now And so far I am very happy with it, if not for a few nagging issues The rangefinder seems to not focus accurately at infinity, is this something that can be fixed? Would this mean that photos I have taken (3 rolls being processed currently) would all be out of focus? Infinity is 'focused' before the lens reaches the infinity symbol The inside of the camera near the shutter is also a bit rusted, in that the metal seems to have become more 'bubbly' in texture, is this fixable via a CLA? Thank you, and I hope to hear your responses
Advertisement Posted January 21, 2017 Posted January 21, 2017 Hi asap, Take a look here Just picked up M6 and 35 Summilux in Titanium... I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Herr Barnack Posted January 22, 2017 Share #2 Posted January 22, 2017 (edited) Congratulations on your new acquisition! I have always loved the look of the titanium M6 - they are truly a thing of beauty. With regard to the issues the camera has, I would send it in for a CLA (Clean, Lubricate and Adjustment). I have had Sherry Krauter do whatever work my film M cameras have needed over the years and would recommend her without hesitation. Sherry has a lifetime of experience in repairing M cameras and lenses and her work is second to none. Sherry is old school; she marches to a different drummer and is not everyone's cup of tea - but she is a great gal once you get to know her. She has no patience for demanding, egotistical people, which some people find offensive (probably because they are demanding and egotistical) but I have never had a bit of trouble getting along with Sherry. Her website can be found at http://www.sherrykrauter.com/ Give her a call and introduce yourself, tell her about your camera and see what she has to say. Talk to her and get to know her and you will have a photographic ally who has encyclopedic knowledge of the M system and repairing M cameras. Hers is a rare talent these days and she is eminently skilled at M camera repair. Edited January 22, 2017 by Carlos Danger

TomB_tx Posted January 23, 2017 Share #4 Posted January 23, 2017 Looks like the poster may be in the UK. Just an FYI on Youxin Ye: he has gotten very busy. I just got a reply about a camera, and he said his normal turnaround is now about 3 months. I tend to use him for my clone collection, so the wait is not a problem for me.

I used to be based in the UK, but now am based in Bangkok, which is where I got the camera, from fotofile in MBK centre. Thank you so much for the CLA recommendations, sadly they are geographically too far for me to cost effectively send for a CLA. Do you happen to know any one in Bangkok, Thailand to recommend?

earleygallery Posted January 23, 2017 Share #9 Posted January 23, 2017 Didn't the dealer you bought the camera from provide a warranty? If the focus is off ask them to have it adjusted. The bubbling paint issue probably isn't worth worrying about.

Thank you. Didn't the dealer you bought the camera from provide a warranty? If the focus is off ask them to have it adjusted. The bubbling paint issue probably isn't worth worrying about. They provide no warranty with what they consider 'second-hand' products, but they did say that they would send it for a CLA should I need one. Though I don't trust their CLA service, they didn't even know how to fix the frame counter in store!

I have not bought from an official leica dealer but rather a known unofficial dealer of sorts, hopefully the film rolls that I have sent wont be out of focus due to infinity on the body not being in sync with the lens. I have just recently found out about the titanium M-P. It is certainly beautiful, and I presume close to impossible to get a hold of. Is there such an option for a titanium finish on the MP a la carte?

For RF adjustment , Photo Suffren takes a few tens of Euros , if you visit Paris you can give them your camera to control. Very kind service https://www.photosuffren.com/ Best Henry Edited January 24, 2017 by Doc Henry
