Leica M warranties

Not in the USA; the local warranty does not transfer to the second owner. The international warranty will be valid, but must be handled through Wetzlar.

Interesting. Does that mean the owner must send the item to Wetzler or will Leica USA do it acting as the owner's agent?  If the repair is locally "do able" one would think it is in Wetzer's best interest to allow the repair to be accomplished  in New Jersey. Do you know why this situation exitsts?  Regards, Ron

Isn't this the difference between: Warranty  ( Garanty ) and Gewährleistung according to German law?

Meaning that warranty is for new items and Leica is obliged to repair and " gewährleistung " , the warranty a dealer gives on a used item, saying: " It's good stuf, I guaranty any repair if nessesary. " The repair could than be made by any local Leica repair facility.

I have had the same experience in the USA as BBHewee. In fact, I have never paid for a single repair for any Leica lens or camera I have owned whether purchased new or used.

I have complained about slow service in the past but now that I think about it.....Wowzers that is good customer service!

6 years of use, probably 8 different items at Leica NJ and spent $0.00. Probably shouldn't ever complain again.
