The couple were very absorbed with their selfie-ing and photographing each other … and seemed to almost dance with each other and the phone as they tried different poses … oblivious of me trying to capture a few images. Unfortunately I did not have a sufficiently long lens thus these are cropped:

Given the large numbers of smart phones and tablets in use for photography it's not surprising that sales of 'proper cameras' are declining. Smart phones suffice for social media imaging.

Many of the phones in use by visitors/tourists are taking photos of the Piccadilly Lights but the exsiting advertising screens will likely soon be covered with scaffolding while the giant new digital screen is gradually erected - due for completion October 2017.

Next time I visit the West End at night I'm planning to take a ride on an open top bus with my cameras. Should be easy to move about on the top deck but need to investigate the route beforehand.

I'm actually looking forward to the dark screens, I saw them once at the time of Princess Diana's funeral but every photograph I have of that area shows the billboards lit. I will be there in September of this year and will get some dark photographs then.
