28 Elmarit v1 (1964) on M10 ...

J-M,

As you doubtless know, the 9-element Elmarit caused metering problems with M's because the rear element interferes with the metering path.  Did you use the M10's internal light meter for your lovely shots above or did you use an eternal light meter?

Pete.

Hi Pete,

I started doing compensating with the 21 SA 3.4 and 21 SA 4  on earlier digi M bodies:

setting a minus 2 and 2/3 stops exposure compensation with the internal meter in multi zone mode then adjusting according to the histogram always underexposing to protect the highlights .

These shots were taken on my first 2 days with the M10 and I still have no exact setting with any of the rear protruding lenses . There aren't I'm afraid.

Shooting film I do compensate similarly or I commonly use an external meter.

Pete,

I'll answer directly regarding the metering of the 28 Elmarit v1 on the M10 and after running another little test today, I have found that a minus 1 stop gives proper exposure in multi zone metering  mode. YMMV.

Cheers, JM

One bad surprise I have to share is I found that the 21 SA 3.4 does not fare well with the M10, the left and right edges / sides of the pictures are soft.

It was already a concern with the 28 Emarit v1 on the earlier pictures I  shared .

It's noticeable on this picture (28 Elmarit v1 on M10):

To be continued, cheers, Jean-Marc.

Oh that's a shame, J-M, and I presume it's caused by the Elmarit's curvature of field so there's not much that can be done about it. :(  Just one of those things I suppose.

Pete.
