Infinity focus and the 24mm elmarit

I got a new 24mm elmar for my mp240. It works wonderfully but I noticed that when I focus the lens to infinity, the central rangefinder patch does not seem completely in focus (as though I need to move the lens ring a bit more). I don't think it's the camera as the central patch is fine with my 35mm and 50mm. The shots with the 24mm are fine, but the central patch doesn't quite align.

Is this normal as I know the 24mm exceeds the rangefinder field of view?

I don't have the Elmar-M or Elmarit-M 24mm but some other Leitz/Leica wide lenses.

Nothing wrong with that small discrepency between the lens setting and the "patch at infinity", if the two are within the dof scales.

Let's have a look at the large "tolerance":

- at f/2.8 (at left) the dof goes to 5m

- at f/3.8 ( Elmar-M at right) the dof can go from 3 - 5m

I'm sure that your lens is "better" than that 😉 setting to infinity 😇

Thanks!

after doing some trial checking do you think it’s possible the issue is related warmer weather and/temps?

crazy but when I first use the lens rangefinder patch seem spot on,  afternoons after using rangefinder patch is out.
could heat cause the misalignment?
